Re: Six moons lunar solo
The moral of this is, carbon poles snap, alloy poles bend. Weirdly (perhaps) nearly all reported breakages have occurred following the consumption of alcohol, so maybe there's another moral to the story? On a more serious note, do remember that I will gladly and even happily repair or replac...

Going to purchase one of these. Can anyone recomend the best length pole for it as I've seen a few mentions of the std pole being too short, which I'll purchase from the bear
A quick google suggests Ultralightoutdoor is the best place to purchase from. Anyone found them cheaper?
Cheers

Re: Whats the pick of the 29er rims at the moment?
I Cant remember the exact models without checking back but one pair was a gravel pair 38mm I think. and then I got a a deeper road pair think they were 45mm. The import was simple and just paid the duty. After my local wheel builder built mine he started recommending them to people who wanted carbon...

Re: Whats the pick of the 29er rims at the moment?
Stans Arch Mk3 suffer from cracking at the spoke holes. I've had one changed under warranty. I'm not tough on my wheels and they were built to exacting standards (by me  ) so I'd say it's an issue with the rim rather than wheel build/usage. If I didn't have them on 2 bikes with interchangeabl...

Anyone use one? Been offered one very cheap and the subscription is £8 a month and can be inactive for £1 a month when not in use. I know there are a fair fews spots esp Cairngorm etc that are black spots but with the 3 networks covered looks like it should be mostly ok as a cheap back up compared t...

Well I'm starting anyway and will just take it as it comes. After two visits to the osteopath I can bend a bit better I've got inflammation between a few lower vertebrae on rh side. Still in a bit of pain but is improving daily. Repacked the bike as not sure about taking a back pack now. Will make t...

I don't know if I'd laugh or cry! Did he go back or risk it to the bike shop at Laggan wolftrax? He went back for it. :-bd Good thing he did, the bike shop at Wolftrax isn't there any more...! (It's in the process of relocating to Kingussie high street.) That's a shame but good to know.

I appear to have remembered the password for the Twitter account. I'll be on and off updating as usual. Great - Richard Wilson's starting an ITT today. Can you remind him to pack a pump. It would be somewhat annoying to get to the far end of Loch Lyon and then realise you'd left it in the car. Too ...

Silca tattico is the best I've found
Really good quality flex hose that clamps not screw on. It's not mini but it's bloody good. When I'm out in a road group everyone asks for a shot as it's far superior to the mini ones they carry.

Re: HT550 2021
I also think there is a sweet spot in terms of finishing time. Under 4 1/2 days and you hurt yourself, over 6 1/2 days and it becomes a war of attrition as you have been out for so long. So I'm now aiming for a five and a half days finish after reading that  Bike just keeps getting heavier! bu...

My Etrex has played started playing up today after a very wet ride. It will not save and export track. I just keep getting a track archive error message. I have tried deleting some tracks as thought it could be storage issue, turning it off on a few times. Never had a problem with it before. Looks l...

Re: New GPS ideas please.
Anyone know the MAH battery on the wahoo roam? I'm currently deciding which to take for ht my etrex or the wahoo roam or both but seems a bit overkill! so would need a decent sized powerbank just to power the roam all the way round.

I've done the first part of the route from Banchory to Braemar, camped at spital of glen muick (near the toilets) just off route. My mate I was with gave up at braemar so we used the Deeside trail to make quick progress back to the car. It runs from Ballater to Aberdeen so is good for a quick bail o...
