Oh, and another option to get the maps is detailed here:

Re: GPS basics
eTrex is pretty good in that it's always recording, no start / stop unless you choose to clear / save the track. Far better than forgetting to start the ride then realising you'd not recorded an entire session. :(
As for the route, you can just show it on the map and follow it passively.

Re: GPS basics
I've been using an eTrex 30 for years as my cycling GPS so if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I swapped over to an Edge 1000 last week and so far I'm hating it. :( BTW, the maps over at talkytoaster are a reasonable free alternative to OS maps (OSM). Not as detailed, but if you're...

Re: Tyre like a sieve... adventures in tubeless.
Messes with my nerves going past the lower limits on the sidewall. I'm a big nancy.
I might drop a couple of PSI more though as it was still a touch bouncy.

Re: Tyre like a sieve... adventures in tubeless.
Yeah, I use the method where they sit in the inner groove... doesn't help on certain tyres. Or if it does, not enough to make them easy to get on anyway. I'll have a look at those levers though (var / pedros). I used to use the Park tools ones, but they damaged my rim strip a bit. At the moment I've...

Re: Tyre like a sieve... adventures in tubeless.
The Bontrager XR4 I have on the front went on well enough. I've got a Specialized Storm Control here that I never want to try putting on again... ever.

Re: Tyre like a sieve... adventures in tubeless.
Well, part of the problem for me is that it takes about half an hour to change my tyres because of these stupid rims (I've snapped multiple tyre levers trying to get tyres on / off and bent a metal one in half). If I get more than a couple of punctures on the WRT I might as well give up... so I figu...

Tyre like a sieve... adventures in tubeless.
Decided that I'd finally switch over my tyres to tubeless for a test ride this weekend and what a nightmare it's been. On one wheel I did I couldn't get it to stop losing air around the valve stem. In the end I had to tighten the nut using some pliers, let it settle, then loosen it off a bit and let...

Don't have Trek stuff, but none of mine go past flat. Must just be lucky with what I buy.

Re: Trek recalls all bikes with QR levers & disc brakes
I don't know how they managed it, but it's a really, really stupid design: http://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2015/04/recall-illustration.jpg Who on earth thought going past flat was a good idea for a QR? But yeah, I always have my QR opposite to where my discs are, mostly beca...

Re: BB200 Route
Phew, I just looked at my route and I'm heading south along the West edge of Llyn Brianne rather than heading West. Is that bit still OK as far as people are aware?
Edit - I guess thinking about it, no reason to think it wouldn't be.

Oh dear... I've done a few of those in my time. Not entirely sure I fancy it over that sort of distance.
I shall look further south to try and skirt around it. Cheers. :)

Re: Bespoked UK Handbuilt Bikeshow 2015
Was a good show. Perhaps not quite as good as last year's (I preferred the velodrome as a venue), but I got to have a quick chat with Beth on the Wildcat stand, which was entertaining. :)
I was surprised to see a full on downhill MTB there. Impressive bit of kit too.

WRT - SN 868568?!?
Hi all, quick introduction. I'm Richard from Cardiff. Pretty new to all this bikepacking stuff (a grand total of one night out under my belt), but I'll be along for the WRT and hopefully will mange to survive without being eaten by wolves (or sheep). Reasonably experienced at cross country, though s...
