Re: Christmas / present / ideas ... sorry.
Our family sidestepped the issue in an attempt to collectively save money since it was getting silly - no-one buys presents for the adults any more, we just buy stuff for the various children (that still leaves 6 kids to buy presents for)

Re: Musings on May 2018
I am giving this serious consideration. Easy on dates. Although I do have one real concern, I hate eggs (and I am a veggie too) My missus is veggie and and she had quite a few issues a few years back when she did part of the Camino: Most things are not marked veggie and when buying cooked food you ...

Re: Winter reading recommendations?
I remember the Road as being relentlessly brutal and with very little extraneous content. It wasn't an easy read but it had an uplifting end if you chose to interpret it that way. The look that Guy Pierce gives at the end of the film made the ending a bit more ambiguous for me. The Passage while als...

Re: Black Friday 2017
Most people in IT are wary about them because most of them are easy to hack. I think there was an article on Ars Technica about a bored developer who whiled away an otherwise boring evening in a Hotel by working out how to turn the lights on or off and the heating up and down in every room through t...

Re: Medium sized seat bags
I use a wildcat tiger wayfarer with the 6L tapered dry bag. Not cheap but as long as I remembered to cinch it tightly it was rock solid and I barely noticed it while riding.

Any route that contains a section called the Staircase is vaguely worryingTaylor wrote:I've gone for B, only because I've ridden most of the other two 100's. Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike
I've not done 100k for a decade, which of the 3 routes looks the easiest to people that know the terrain? IMO B or C would be the nicer rides but C doesn't take in the Staircase and has less climbing. At 1800m, it's almost flat  Considering that that's 6 times my usual amount of climbing in a...

I believe my reenactment group has used some form of gunpowder impregnated material (sheep's fleece?) wrapped around the top of the shaft. Doing that generally needs a gunpowder license though (and strictly speaking so does loosing the arrow)

I'm guessing they released the copy early since it's both an endurance road racer and a trail hard tail while having clearance for 30mm tyres in one place and 28mm in another. Free is nice though

It looks like a fairly standard bootstrap / jquery site that's using a video plugin that isn't compatible with older browsers - that causes a cascade of javascript errors. Is it an old tablet?
