Re: Wtd: Fat bike forks.

Not really what I'm looking for as the surly forks seem to have their own gravity.

But that said if I can't find out I'll be in touch

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Dang just came here to post that.

Just received one of their new to model 5s to replace my old factory seconds model 1.

Nice looking bit of kit but not had the chance to use in anger yet

Wtd: Fat bike forks.

Anyone got a 1 1/8 the straight steerer rigid fork for my 9 zero 7 I replace my now deceased maverick sc32

Would also be interested in fork and wheel or fork and hub.

Carbon would be preferred, long steerer required.

Re: Siren fred bar or similar in the uk.

Revos on a home made bracket. It's dead easy it's basically an l shaped piece of metal with a couple of tabs that go under the bottom of crown - stop it turning into wheel if it came loose. Don't recommend it though as it puts the light at too shallow an angle for the beam pattern. As for riding it ...

Re: Siren fred bar or similar in the uk.

Got out for a ride today. Bars mostly sat there being un instrusive to the riding of the bike. Previously when I've tried this the extra weight hanging out over the front has made the front end floppy. There is no knee- arm rest interface -even when I try to make them hit. - this I must admit was a ...

Re: Siren fred bar or similar in the uk.

Well got the Fred bar fitted. Good bit of kit has let me lower my bars back down and fit the longer stem back on instead of compromising position to get my Tri bars on. Much nicer position on both the extensions with a nice hunched back instead of stretched and with a horrible hip/leg angle and the ...

Re: Have R@pha nicked JamesO's Idea?

you miss my point. theres only so much you can guide on - when your guiding you have no idea of the ability thats going to come through the door - the only constant you know is that they have paid money. The routes fixed so theres no way to tailor to the client Potential to be a complete pain in the...

Re: Have R@pha nicked JamesO's Idea?

im conflicted . i would not fancy guiding a ride like that due to the fact money cant buy ability or fitness - its a tough ride before you add in the nav and self sufficiency.... But i also realise i have friends who would love to do it have the fitness and endurance although are completely incapibl...

Re: So.. whats the best rigid fork you've ridden??

conversely i found the ctypes just about the worst ive ridden of the "premium forks" barring the hylix that i broke - but they were jsut cheap carbon from taiwan. Ctypes didnt seem to have the same elastic connection witth the front wheel in a steering capacity that they had in a fore/aft ...

Re: Hub dynamos, USB chargers and stuff...

yep the E-werk has a battery Infact the MK5 igaro has a stabiliser system built in now - not quite a battery its basically a capacitor as far as i can work out but it was still advised that a switch (assuming i use it) will make my system alot more robust after the issues ive had i have the system o...

Re: Hub dynamos, USB chargers and stuff...

i have all the stuff to make the switchover in a jiffybag somewhere.....i was vaguely aware of the issues of not having a switch. i just never got round to it. the igaro switch was 17 quid so i just did that this time. 80kph off a pass in the rockies killed my d1 - my own fault for not plugging in t...

Re: Hub dynamos, USB chargers and stuff...

Top tip is be sure to fit a switch. Ive killed 3 cycle2charges and a iguro d1 mk1 by over heating the internals by riding at high speed with no load (fully charged or cable not plugged in) - thanks to andrew at igaro for taking the time to explain. So when the replacement igaro mk5 came i was sure t...

Re: The price of stuff.

the great thing about 5 grand wonder bikes is they are the latest standards and so become obsolete quickly. i just picked up a pretty good condition ibis mojo HD 140 for 300 odd quid because its unfashionable as hell - itll still ride good enough for me. i view it as recycling too so has green crede...

Re: Pogies

i have the fleece lined neoprene barmitts for the drop bars and the same for the regular bars. they work well - are reasonably rigid so stay where you put them - self drain the water that runs down your cuff into them. they do an extreme cold version as well but no experiance with them. Hotpogs work...
