Re: Gatwick bivi spot?

There's a nice little park, really close to the south terminal...

But it's right next to the main A23, so might be too noisy

Well, if you're popping into Spar, they'll be reet grand for hanging you shopping bags on ;)

Disclaimer: I have a 29er with wide riser bars and bar ends - but I've never been accused of being trendy,

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Well 4.5 hrs of bimbling resulted in one unfeasibly claggy field (I've honestly never seen such a peculiarly structured soil) a puncture (due to a hedge having been trimmed) a temperamental pump that wouldn't produce any pressure, a mile or so of walking, and scrounging the use of a foot pump from s...

Thanks guys - you just cost me a tenner ;)

I'm currently at a measly 6x6 (I have range, rather than density - and I'm sticking to that excuse)

I feel some exploring, coming on.

That looks like a great route, but how long has it been since Manchester took over from Birmingham as the second city?

Re: SSUK 2018 IOW

Well, I've discovered that riding from Ryde to the campsite without going near any of those tricky 'moderate speed, but lots of blind corners' type of roads is harder than you'd think.

I think I've got it cracked, though, so I'll see any of you 'Boners' (Ooer) who may be attending, there.

Had to do a mental ride of the route to work out where we cross the A25 (It's been a long day!)
You must be in Redhill, then?

Sounds like you had a great day out, anyway - sometimes, getting lost adds to the fun.

BTW, when I read 'gravel caadx' my brain kind of spell-checked it to this

Re: What's happened to Bikehike ...

The download tool for my Holux GPS unit also suffers from this - could also just be that the software for this and Bikehike haven't been updated for a long time, have lagged behind the ever-advancing versions of the Google maps API, and have effectively become deprecated. P.S. I've just checked a Go...

Re: Seatpack improvements - simple, but effective

Had a look at mine last night. I realised I've been using it differently of late. Mine definitely came with two straps, one to hold the roll top as in your mod and the other to strap to the saddle. Funny enough, of late, I have been using a much larger saddle pack and sliding the alpkit bag in. Mea...

Just in case any body is interested in a MYOG style alternative, this is how I do it... Re: Garmin Etrex 30x

I use a Ram Mount for my Garin 60csx unit (this is quite a large unit, but I got it incredibly cheaply, so I shouldn't complain) Apparently, these mounts are much stronger than the standard Garmin mounts, and I've not had any issues with mine, so that seems to be correct. Etrex 30X mount The handle...

Re: A windshield question for you.

Mine goes int the pot, but it isn't conical (some may consider it comical, though)

I'd say that it's fairly important, as it makes for a single bundle of all things you need for cooking.

Re: Seatpack improvements - simple, but effective

Hmmm, The main picture on the Alpkit page does suggest that it comes with a single strap, for attaching to the saddle rails. Mine may have been supplied with this (but I had it a few years and my memory is become rather suspect) and I may have removed it, due to using the bag in my Wildcat harness. ...
