and delivered a pair of Whispbar roof bars and a Thule upride 599 rack Hello nick :-H I was looking at a similar setup for my newly acquired jag/mondeo but f**k me gently! they are expensive! The other option of getting a tow bar for a rear rack is also a bit steep. I’ll have to sort something soon...

Re: Bar roll bracket ( instead of a harness)

Nice. I like that. Are they easy enough to take on/off? Just one bolt per bracket so 4 in total I think I might just leave them on. Weight in the packet is 132g according to Amazon, so that's about 250g in total. Each main bar mounting is hinged. Now I"m happy that it should work I'm going to ...

Bar roll bracket ( instead of a harness)

Up until now I've used an Alpkit double ended dry bag (13 L or 20L) strapped directly to the Jones bars on my Genesis. With the arrival of the Cannondale fat bike with lefty fork, I needed an alternative as a) most harnesses strap to the fork crown and b) I was worried the lefty fork will make a dry...

and delivered a pair of Whispbar roof bars and a Thule upride 599 rack and (rear wheel) fat bike adapter, which is easily swopped over if I want to carry a more sensible bike.. the rack holds the wheel and has no frame clamp. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/911/41831717501_e429f231d7_k.jpg Oh,...

Snuck out again for another not quite last minute BaM. Trundled down to a different bit of my local nature reserve on the fat bike, arriving at about 10pm last night. Found a good spot and all set up and in my sleeping bag with a flask of tea by 10.30. Set the alarm for 6 to avoid sny early dog walk...

Re: Dropper compatible seat bag

I've got 17.5 cm saddle rail to tyre clearance on the fat bike.

I've just fitted on of these...

The non dropper version - same bag and bracket just without the seat post collar.

Lovely quality....

And left me a very lovely bedrock bags black dragon dropper seat bag. The fat bike doesn't have a dropper but has very limited tyre to saddle clearance. The bag has a very neat small metal mounting bracket to stop sag. Spendy (especially with duty and vat) but very nicely made. And a bedrock bags ca...

A lovely getting to know you ride on the fat bike. A couple of miles of road from home to the sustran Phoenix trail. Then through princes risborough up kop hill (ugh) and then round some bridleway at white leaf cross. I ended up somewhere I'd not planned to be but found my way back to risborough,and...

I was just thinking that whilst I may look like a homeless person when out on a longer ride, my kit is a) practical and b) not cheap, but there again it's c) not needlessly expensive either. Just decent quality which hopefully works well and lasts.

I need volunteers to tell me about off-road cycling events

We’re currently working on a project for a major national health charity who want to learn about people’s experiences of, and expectations of, off-road cycling events. I need to interview, by teleph...

Re: Steve Abraham Talk - Halifax

I was lucky enough to ride with Steve on an overnight YACF Oxford to London ride. Riding a stupidly huge fixed gear Steve snapped his handlebars going up a very steep hill. Unperturbed he loosened his stem, moved the bars over so the (complete) break was under the stem and carried on riding as if no...
