Re: Rim advice please

Quite like a Diplomatico. Had a nice Plantation one that had Pineapple tree bark in it at some point. Would recommend. Generally I'd avoid the spiced stuff. Mostly low quality booze with too many additions to try and cover it up Lamb's all the way for me - #oldskoolhardcore In other news DT make ex...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Merlin have got some very good prices on a number of things at the moment, including new FF29 frames at £399, TRP Slate and Slate Evo brakes for £70-£90 (F&R set!), but this Deore 12 spd boost crankset looks very good value, 170 and 175mm options, 32 tooth £37: https://www.merlincycles.com/shim...

Re: Riding the Gr5 (ish), Montreux to Nice

Nice trip report, Andy. Looks like a fantastic trip The exposure in the pic on day 4 would have me absolutely bricking myself riding my bike. I could walk that no problem, but I wouldn't be thrilled on a bike. It's like a very high stakes boardwalk! You should have seen some of the stuff in Provenc...

Re: Riding the Gr5 (ish), Montreux to Nice

Sorry James, just seen this. If you pm me an email address I can send gpx or if on komoot I can share Julians original plans.
Your trip looked great - forgotten how much I love the Alps. Very tempted to go back next year and ride the Tour of the Ecrins over a week.

Lots of Lumicycle lights stuff.....

I've stopped using my Lumicycle lights now that I have an Exxposure. I have the following: * Two large 'Endurance' Li ion batteries, both twin cable * 2 stage charger * HID front light * LED (mk1 or 2) front light * 2 x DIY'd LED lights, made by installing Cree triple LEDs, heat sinks and drivers in...

NB. If the Fox Rythm might save me a few pennies and have less chewy stuff going on (and similar weight) I might wait for them :-bd  chewy... I'll take them off and weigh them, but would think they'll be 150gms more. They have less sticker damage (as I removed them all due to colour clash) and...

I have an old pair of WTB Nanos, badged as 27.5 x 2", but they come up narrow. They've plenty of tread, but look a bit tatty due to lots of tubeless sealant. £10 posted? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53285967144_bba6be07c9.jpg 20231025_203750 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5328584565...

Re: Dropper post curious

Another Brand X + Top Peak thingy user here. Advantage of Brand X is that swapping to a standard post is dead easy - release the cable and go. Hydraulic posts are a bit more involved. the Brand X get rebranded as all sorts - I have a Bontrager branded version from years ago.

I've some SIDs going spare - SID RL, 120mm travel, 51mm offset, solo air, Motion Control, bar mounted lock out, 110x15mm maxle. Black and 1740g on my scales with remote and cable. Stickers are a bit tatty and the thread has gone on the hose clamp (could be re-tapped or use a self tapper, or a cable ...

I took Rebank jnr (or one of them) for Bikeability last year. I think Mrs R has taken to writing too. I'm reading The Flow by Amy-Jane Beer https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/flow-9781472977397/ Easy to read, dip in and out of, and of interest to anyone who stops on bridges to watch rivers/becks/burns.

Re: What makes the black dashed line - rideable?

To chip in to the 'legality bit', there is, I believe, a bylaw specifically banning cycling on footpaths within open access land in the Peak District. I seem to remember it being a response, years ago, to cyclists using Fps along the gritstone edges, which was damaging SSSIs and the like. This is fr...
