He probably won't reply for a bit. Maybe February. Unless he gets swamped for places.

15mm to 9mm dynamo conversion.

Has anyone or know of a reason why not to use a universal converter on a 15mm dynamo hub?

Thanks

Re: GPS tracking or a spot!

The phone is Note4. The riding is 125, 61, 137 miles over the 3 days with 7k, 3k, 9k of feet climbed respectively. Having the bluetooth on both the phone and garmin active would mean lots of drainage on the batt which I would rather try and conserve as much as poss. Will have a 21000mah (16000 usab...

Re: GPS tracking or a spot!

I have an 810. Which is sort of below an 520 so I am assuming you have the same functions . Can you not connect your garmin to your phone via bluetooth and then use the tracking on garmin connect via livetrack email. Save you loads of battery rather than the strava version.

When boots got bought over by wallgreens about 2 years ago, there range changed and you could get cases for your insulin pens. Would also try diabetes uk. And email norodisk, sandofi etc.

Lomond hills. Cleish hill a bit. Lots of good road and rough country track type roads/paths. Strava heat maps are your friend. To be honest. East Fife in particular is rolling or flat. Always packed with roadies as it gets the least amount of rain.

Re: Lighter bivy

Spotlight is good. Sheds water better than OR. Breaths/vents better and is bigger. It's also better when not using a hoop if some thing happend to it. Yes it is a few grams more than the OR but not many. Both are very good Be aware that they are sometimes hard to get in the summer as places sell out...

Re: 2017 plans

Starting to make 2017 plans. Would any one up in Scotland have a suggestion about a nice town one could base themselves out of for a week? Ideally a range of road and off road options leading from town, but a big enough town to have some dinner options and cake options during/post ride? Wife is int...

Re: Best all purpose tyres these days

I can't see 2.4 being adequate volume. Different beast Chris - 2.4 is massive. Is that the continental xkings 2.4 are massive/adequate or 2.4's in general. I have had some maxxis 2.2 and they are fine but the continental's 2.2 are just slivers in comparison. Almost low profile. Clarification apprec...

Re: Best all purpose tyres these days

Quick mention to continentals. Don't make my mistake. Was running mitchlin 2.25 griper ultimate. Excellent if a little slow. Got some cheap xkings protections at about 23 quid each. Thought the 2.2 would be wide enough, but turned out really narrow and lower volume than expected. Only realised my er...

I have found Stan valves a bit hit or miss. Superstar ones are really good. Same design principle but better end plug.

Just saying.

Thanks.

Some timex have a vibration alarm. Which is a handy function for weary travellers.

Expensive g-shocks with extensive lists of features are bulky, especially the solar powered ones. Cheaper ones less bulky.

Thought it was to do with naming a mountain after a person or place to differentiate it from someone or some where. ie mount Kenya in Kenya. Or "mount" snowden in snowdonia.
Could be wrong.

Re: Another 'would it work'

Don't think you could do it. Well you could. But why. It would take a skilled frame builder to do it correctly...which is expensive. It may be more cost effective to buy a similar frame with a tapered headtube.

Edit. Expensive enough to make it not cost effective.

Re: Cairngorm calling

I am in Braemar today. It's baltic even compared to Edinburgh. Week looks like it will get colder but drier. And the winds will get up as well. Go for it if your set on going. But the lakes 200 may be a better call weather wise. Just make sure you know the bail outs.

Enjoy!
