Re: First aid kits & Solo multiday trips

I have no first aid training, but I know a few basics. I carry the following: Bandages Wound dressing Pain killers Alcohol wipes Tick tweezers Small tube of saline solution (for cleaning out eyes or wounds) Suncream (if there's sun) a small plastic whistle foil blanket (if I don't have my sleeping b...

Re: Handlebar max load

I used a 1.9kg tent when starting out. It was what I had, and I didn't have the budget for shiny new ultralight kit. You could put the poles and pegs in a frame bag for lowering the weight. Also do you need all the pegs they provide?

Re: South Wales newbie

Yes the Gower is good. Ive ridsen round it a few times on day rides. Plenty of views, places to resupply. Not too remote as to get easily lost. I'm hoping to get out there one weekend soon for an overnighter.

Re: SRT Operational Member Training.

Thanks for posting all this Greg. I have enjoyed reading. As others have said: quite an eye opener. I already knew about the lack of funding and commitment required. I had no idea about the intensity of the training, or the realities of what's involved.

Keep up the good work :)

Re: Anything better than a BOB trailer

I did a bit of looking around at trailers for hauling my dog (a labrador who used come MTBing until he developed arthritis) and other general large loads . Though I've not bought any, one at the top of my list (though expensive) was cycletote. It seems the best made/design. Uses full size tyres. It ...

Some nice photos there.

That unknown name rider was me! (The lone lonely hearts club). I ended up riding the rest of the route with Nick as our routes were almost the same.

No worries. I'll happily send out my gpx to anyone who wants to /wants the option to join me. I intend to ride it unless im on my tod. Looking at the weather Sunday I'll probably cut out the loop of the lake down south.

Re: Strange Things You've Carried On Your Bike

A full crate of beers. My colleagues bought me a present whilst I was commuting by bike. I rattled the whole 12 miles home. Glad I had some paracord in my bag. Another one is two wooden battens on my first WRT. I used them to support a dry bag on my pannier rack. Luckily I won a saddle bag in the ra...
