Your $2000 does get you a conveniently placed map on the bottom of the downtube!

Re: Bikepacking with Children Ideas.

As above I've been eyeing up the Tissington trail/Parsley Hay area for a little while now. Campsite/bunk house at sparklow with facilities (pub), looks OK when I've cycled passed. Nice easy car free terrain for little uns as well.

Re: Peak ITT

All good here buddy, free time has been at a bit of premium with work and kids over the winter, which I don't mind as the kids are thriving. I did get a fair bit of running done for the first time in years though. Back on the bike now though doing loads (for me) of road/gravel miles on the cross bik...

Re: Peak ITT

Brilliant write up Ian, I struggle to get up the bar road to Baslow edge on fresh legs let alone after 17 odd hours in the saddle! Great to hear you've found a way to manage your chronic fatigue syndrome, very inspiring.

Re: Lon Las Cymru

My brother and I did this last year, We did it over 5 very leisurely days, much food was eaten. As others have said, good bits and bad bits, I would be happy to do it again. Make sure you've got a bell, it was well used going into Cardiff. I've got a full set of the sustrans maps here that your welc...

Re: Waterbottle filters?

I have one of these, http://www.purehydration.com/shop/emergency-aid/aquapure-traveller/ It's sh!t, the filter itself is fine but the bottle is made of the flimsiest plastic and the cap is a nightmare to drink out off. I fill it and squeeze the water out of it into a decent bottle which is a pain in...

My germ infested family have given me their colds/flu for new year, so I'm out for the bivi tonight. About the third bivi in a row cancelled at the last minute. Gutted is an understatement.

Re: Regular Peak District Night Ride?

In an effort to get out on my bike more and be more sociable I'm hopefully* heading out for a ride and bivi on Thursday the 8th if anyone fancies it. I've not ridden for a little while so I will be travelling at a leisurely pace and would welcome any company. (don't expect much conversation when I'm...

Re: Ford Fiesta newbie...will i die?

My first overnighter was spar and back last year. 'Twas great, I learnt a lot (mainly, don't bivi by the side of lyn clywedog, it's quite cold, unsurprisingly!), I've done about half a dozen bivis since none as good as the first one. Make do with what you've got, as long as you have something to sle...

Re: BB200 - 2 Weeks to Go

Do it. If you don't have a go you'll definitely fail. Wise words. I spent the whole of august off the bike and have only been on intermittently since, but these rides have included some great 60-70km overnight bivis. I'm going to slowly plod round with a relatively leisurely bivi. I'm aiming to get...
