Heres a lower tech/at a glance version of the above for the dinosaurs like me. Im sure that there are some that are missed, ( I accept no responsibility if all of the data/info is wrong :-bd ) I'm happy to update this post as stuff needs adding/correcting. Re: off the peg or custom.
Charlie the bike monger reckons the salsa ship gets in about Jan.
But for a bit more than the price of a salsa frameset you can go custom.
I've been having unhealthy thoughts about a deadwood. Hopefully fondling a krampus tomorrow will stop this.

Brilliant stuff, reading the tales of your trips with Tom fills me with joy, currently my 3 and 6 year olds seem determined to finish me off through a combination of psychological and germ warfare. there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I went to one of Jerry Gores lectures a while a go where he talked about the logistics of diabetes in alpine environments, I can't find any specific links (yet) but could be worth looking into.

Re: Genesis High Latitude (2015)
My wife has one (2014) and its been bomb proof and great value for money, my only criticism is that it's a touch heavy (the bike not my wife). Its going to get a dropper post for Xmas this year. Not been used for bike packing yet but will be soon and I foresee no problems with it.

2016 ITT dates Folks, I'm trying to be good and organise my self for next year (particular as my bosses are tyrants and needs loads of notice to get time off) can anybody help add to this very short list of ITTs with a group start so that I can get a plan together for next year. I've used the Evoc bag with a 29" hard tail and with my Croix de fer several times now and never had a problem. I rent it from 18 bikes in hope for £25 a week. will probably end up buying one at some point. I particularly like how you can take out all of the reinforcing plastic bars and it fold...

Re: Cable or hydraulic disc brake
I severed a hydraulic XT cable 2 days ago, (runs under BB) half way around a 100km loop I was doing. Quite annoying, I love my bb7s on my cross bike. I will now only run mechanical discs on future bikes that I build. ( 'twas the final straw) I've been let down by hydraulics too many time now, but th...

Re: Dreaded Bum Pain
I'm using a brooks cambium, but the thing that has probably helped me the most was going on a longish ride specifically to try different saddle positions until I found one which worked for me.
I also ride my bike more as well which has probably helped toughen/harden my once beautifully soft arse.
