Not cheery exactly, but a big sense of relief.
After many years of struggling, then a couple of months of preparing myself, have this week sat down with the Mr and told him that I don't want to live with him any more.
All rather difficult and sad, but he's taken it as well as I could have hoped, and three days later, the world hasn't stopped spinning, we're still talking, and neither house or my bikepacking gear has been burned ...
In true Mr Z humour, he is looking forward to the prospect of never, ever, having to look at another piece of Quorn, tofu, or a courgette, ever again

All being well, I will be moving to a tiny terrace in Brynmawr soon, which as an extra bonus feature comes complete with dilapidated brick outhouse, the sort that this community favours kipping in...

Definitely feels.like the hardest, most grown up, thing I've ever done.

Not an easy thing to do V especially as we get older and the prospect of living without someone can seem harder than the reality of continuing to live with them. These things have a habit of working out though.

At the complete other end of the spectrum, my youngest boy - born in the middle of the first lockdown - is 4 today! Lots of excitement and parental pride, reminding me of my own excited birthday's as a young boy, and giving me great pleasure to watch on

Cheery here, not just because it's Friday but as I'm also planning to spend tomorrow evening/night at Mum's in the woods, cooking dinner, drinking beer, reading my book and sleeping in the hammock And the forecast is rain, so maybe that will discourage the birds from getting up at first light and waking me up.

Cheery stuff here: It's 9 years since Bear Cub no.1 first rode a pedal bike, and I've got my first guiding gig of the season this afternoon. Hoping that my battered and failing body* makes it through! I do have an ample supply of jelly beans, so should be fine.

*Tennis elbow, sprained wrist, root canal treatment yesterday.

After many years doing voluntary wardening for a chunk of our local river and brook, Anglia Water requested a bit of (free) help surveying all the outfalls and tributaries. Yeah go on then. Spent the morning wading two miles of the brook with my chum Ruth noting all the outfalls and any problems. It was actually rather fun seeing the area from a very different angle - several feet below ground level. Lots of interesting plants, and even a kingfisher tempted by the surprisingly large number of fish.

Cheery enough - contemplating my April BAM, and thinking a wander round Fife is probably a better bet than heading up to the Cairngorms as it's looking a bit wintery up there this weekend - ironic given the drookit winter we've had.

Hopefully a less dull BAM than last month!
In the meantime, I'm having a well earned beer after another hectic week

Walked out of the ice rink to see a fox slinking along a fence by the entrance. Then while waiting at the traffic lights to get onto the main road, a super floofy owl landed on a fence post, eye balled us for 10 seconds or so, then flow off again. Bloody love owls, so that made me right cheery!

It's Friday. I'm lying in my hammock on my April BaM., snug and warm, listening to the rain pattering on my tarp. The 100 ml of Lidls finest cognac is just starting to kick in...

I've just serviced my Buell, so will apologise now for any poor weather that may arrive over the weekend.

It's a cheery Friday (well, Saturday) for me as I quit my job last week and don't really plan on getting another one any time soon.
Was pretty high stress (senior management level) and in a difficult subject (investigating child abuse) and my cortisol levels weren't doing me any good.

I decided to be a bit like Crocodile Dundee and went walkabout this week (Northumberland Coastal Path) but am now home and the two tubeless tyres I set up stayed inflated which is a win.
The wee town I stay in is also having a beer festival today which sounds pleasant.

Next steps - finish prepping my Honda CRF250 for a month doing the TET around the Pyrenees starting in June. Have built a pannier bag rack out of a pair of chopping boards so looking forward to leaving the bike on its side and prepping dinner.

Cheery Friday indeed...spinning up and down the Corvedale....smelling familiar smells and enjoying the familiar views. Great service at Pearce Cycles in Ludlow...pleasant and courteous drivers unlike Qld. Couldn't have asked for nicer weather for a couple of hours out on 2 wheels. Here's hoping the bag of sunshine we brought from Brisvegas continues to function for a few more weeks.
