I was planning on going out tonight and kipping in an open sided barn, but I just can't be arsed...fatbikephil wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 5:00 pm Phew, another hectic week done, off out tonight but given the drookit weather forecast a shed awaits! (hopefully)
I kind of feel I need to go out in crap weather to make up for all the sunshine I've cycled in this year...
Yay, it's cheery Friday.

An up and down kind of day - the down was discovering that a Z1 engine won't fit into the frame I'd bought for it unless I cut it in half and extend it by 3" - not happening. It hasn't rained though, so that's good

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Earlier this week discovered the cup-n-cone bearings in the skip bike were worn out .
Friday - new wheel with sealed bearings delivered by my LBS . I look forward to wearing these ones out, too .
Also: the thumbies I fitted last week to the P7 have been ace. No more faffing with precise adjustments .

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Whilst rootling around in me vinyl collection earlier, curiously I found the old 2019 BBB calendar hiding in it - along with a 2020 Staylittle Stores one. Must be collectors items now .
Anyroad, the June photo gave me a nice warm feeling - JC's photo of a long line of WRT contestants slogging away up Stu's valley, with Mr Slingerland at the front there I believe (shome mishtake shurely, us tramps are usually at the back). Great place, great memories. Only thing is something seems to have gone wrong with the weather.
And then on the opposite page I'd forgotten that I had chipped in July's photo - Pickers and myself indulging in a far less strenuous way of bikepacking . Something terribly wrong with the weather there as well!

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Feeling ridiculously cheery this Friday morning, for no particular reason, which surely is the best way....
Head swirling with happy thoughts about possible weekend plans (involving a BAM hopefully), about the winter event, ideas for next year...
Just really enjoyed a drive over to Llangattock and back before work to give a lift, sun is back out, stunning golden autumn colours and Welsh hills looking particularly beautiful.
That sort of thing.
Cheery Friday everyone

Thank you for injecting a few cheery thoughts . I'm trying to spare some too for the poor folks whose acquaintance with Ciaran was closer than they wished. Hope nobody hit too badly.

Lovely sunlight on the hills this morning. Definitely one of those days when I'm tempted to bunk off, but I've got an appointment at the tattooist today for something bikepacking-related...
Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Another terrible night's "sleep", so might bunk off work this arvo and finally put the RAG+ back together so I can go and ride without getting muddy. Also, a big load of vinyl arrived yesterday and the wife is away for the weekend, hope my speaker doesn't mind going to 11...

About to throw stuff at gravel bike and disappear up north for 24hours - looking a bit parky
Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Nothing to do with bikes, but I'm now the (proud?) parent of a teenager... I think that's something to be cheerful about? And he's a whole lot better than whichever teenager left a turd halfway up the staircase at school today!

I have a sudden emergency requirement for a mid Wales news fix. Do any Boners happen to live over there, perhaps in the middle of nowhere, with owt going on?

Van is packed for a two week trip to Scotland. Trying to finish a route guide book but the weather doesn’t look like it’s going to play

The news in no particular order or merit .....
They keep erecting new overhead poles closing the roads in the process and thus rendering Pennant an island - as you can imagine, the Pennant FB page is awash.
Major crack filling / wall building operations continue on the barn as does some rewiring and a little wood butchery. I think achieving the end result is still some way off but every day brings it a bit closer.
Wilf has realised that if he barks at a field of sheep (even from a considerable distance) he can make them flock together in the centre of the field - he seems to like that.
The really good news is that it hasn't rained today. In fact it's been quite nice (if cold) which is much better than yesterday which was both cold and wet ... so much so, that just before 5pm, I threw the towel in and retired indoors. Not in character but I'd had enough

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Cheery Friday at 2pm this afternoon. I finaly busted the last block out of a 2ft high wall in the cellar. Hired for 2day, charged. For one!
Unfortunately it filled an 4ft wide alcove by 2"6 deep. A SDS drill + hammer & chisel the firstly hired 5kg breaker hammer made little progress, but the 11kg demolition hammer did (no extra cost)
The next adjoining neighbours said the heard nothing. So they are now deaf.
Mrs led burner requested this blockwork remmovt?to make more room, the added support "D oyou have to make all this dust?"
Next job bire a skip...£120 seems steep.
