Was wondering what your ideas are for carrying water and if you carry anything to filter water if needed.

I've tried a bladder with a tube in the frame bag but found that I could not tell how much water I had left.

So decided on a 1l pop bottle from M&S with a source top fixed to my top tube.

I normally use a sawyer mini filter but have looked at the MSR trailshot as a interesting alternative.

Generally a single bottle attached to the bike somewhere and a 2l squashy Platypus bottle for camp duties with a Sawyer mini if I think it'll be required.

As above.... but maybe 2 bottles on the bike (weather and route dependent).

One bottle in feed bag, one in cage and a 1.5ltr pop bottle in bbb extra large cage below down tube for camp filled up at last possible moment.

Another vote for single bottle (500ml) and Sawyer in stemcell; or more usually bottle and Steripen (500ml = 30 secs) and filter big bits through clenched teeth...1L platy for bivi...

What strap system have you used for the bottle?

It's a 1l pop bottle from M&S not just any pop bottle this is a M&S bottle ;-)

It was similar weight to the source 1l liquitainer bladder bottles.

It's fitted into a monkii bottle holder which is then fitted into a gorilla cage bracket with the last round connector taken off so my wildcat frame bag can still fit correctly.

I put the bottle onto the top tube as it saves room in my frame bag, I can see how much fluid I have left, don't need a hydration tube as it's easy to get too.
It does not get covered in mud as it might on the down tube.

And it's different, others probably think, what a k..b he's got his bottle on his top tube

Most of it bought from bearbones store.

£36.9 for a bottle holder and then I have to buy the bottle and not just any bottle etc etc.
Probably gaffer tape/tie wrap my toppeak adjustable holder to the top tube.

General comment.
Do I remember some sort of universal clip thingy referred to as a 'baguette holder'?
Anyone point me at it?

There's a Travel Tap somewhere on a bumpy part of the Corbin Creek Trail in BC if anyone fancies trying one. Do I need to mention they don't fit in a regular cage that well?

I normally just get by with a bottle and oasis tabs.

Short trips...1 x 750ml bottle. Longer trips... 1 x 600ml bottle, 1 x 1L bottle, Sawyer mini and Aquamira tabs as backup. I switched the default 16oz bag for the 32oz bag for the Mini. Additional 500ml x 2 can be put into my Batpack6.

I think Nigel has linked to the MuthaLoad strap, a Super8 is better for bottles.

Received a sawyer filter myself today from my daughter for my birthday :) ... all in preparation for wrt !

Two water bottles and steritabs.
One for drinking and one filled up with a tablet doing its stuff.
Worth mentioning that I don't get out to ride enough so this is based on a few WRT's and others will have more experience. I guess it depends on where you are getting the water from?
