seeing as I am the other party, I will reply.

no it is not normally the thing to do. and in hundreds of transactions on here and on stw classifieds I have always had good dealings.
but this time a friend decided at the last moment that he wanted to buy the thing I was selling.
I am not prepared to let a friend down............and like I said to you in the email, the goods are mine and I will sell them to whoever I chose to.
so like I said.............sorry.

OP - Have a panda - relax. It's not the end of days.
Ton is one of the most reliable sellers I've known, you've not entered into contract, if he's chosen to pass it to someone else, it's his choice.

Right, before this goes down the route of STW, I'm going to butt in and say (a) these things sometimes happen but no one's died (b) I've had a number of dealings with Ton over the years and they've always been top notch - item always as described or better, fast delivery (often free) and never any issues. So, for this to happen, I can only think that the circumstances must be exceptional. I'm not 'taking sides', I'm simply stating fact ... can we leave it at that.

Oh beaten to the Panda

Stu, we discussed this. Never beat a panda, they are cute and potentially vicious.

I think this is particularly unfair to be honest

Why are we giving pandas such significant air time? What about the other bears? Think of the kids... and why did we change from the gnome?

Panda I think - they are much, much bigger, red pandas are only just bigger than a domestic moggie. (but a lot cuter)

But Panda's are soft. Look at them, they're not a bear like a brown/black/grizzly/polar bear. That Red panda looks like he's got a honey badger waiting to break out

Whereas this is the one forum I am happy to send stuff on trust and reduce prices to members as it is a low key friendly place to spend time (and money).

And loving the pandas - cute and cuddly like many forum members
