Re: TCR 2017
Watched the checkpoints being announced and does look to be going to some good places.
250k a day average to hit all the controls seems reasonable.
More info on the blog about the entry process that opens on Monday.
Large form to fill in to gain your experience history and just to see if you've got the endurance to fill it all in (Mikes take was if you couldn't be bothered to spend a few hours, you probably wouldn't commit to the event)

It has made me think about it. As a volunteer the last 3 years could probably get a place but need to consider if I am up to it.
For some reason I fancy doing it as a pair but I don't know anyone as slow and rubbish at climbing as me.

Although a quick plot suggests 4,000k of riding

PedalEd insight here with nice pictures. http://boundproof.com/pedaled-transcont ... -released/
Following the interest for this in 2017 it's going to be an a!mighty charge for places, wouldn't be surprised if there are over 600 serious applicants for the 300 places, so sweet talk Kevin round.

Chew, Away for a couple of days and will email you tonight to see if you have come to your senses. Sort of talked myself out of it again yesterday but now thinking how hard can it be.
At least you know my pace.

Re: TCR 2017
Out of interest (not that I want to do a road event)
How many days do you have to cycle between check points?
And how long do they stay open for?
I assume it'll be like an Audax, where you'll be needing to achieve a minimum speed and the checkpoints will close on that basis. Depending on distances it could be a day, or most of a week.

Exactly. How hard can it be?. It's just riding bikes. Albeit for a very long time though some incredible places.

+10 on this. I almost talked myself out of Torino-Nice...so glad I went in the end. Don't let a distance (or elevation!) number scare ya Kev. You'll come back a richer person...but I'm sure you already know this.ianfitz wrote:...Don't regret passing it by...

Re: TCR 2017
Thanks guys. It is my lack of speed that bothers me rather than distance. Shorter than TD longer than Tour Aotearoa and climbing is my weakness.
