Hope light compatability

Post by Fat tyre kicker »

Does anybody know if any other rear lights (ie exposure, supernova) will
Run off a Hope battery system with a splitter cable ? I have the front light
And battery set up and need a new rear light so would be easier to share
One power source....or do I just have to take the plunge and buy the Hope
Rear ? Thanks for any advice.

I've not split one open but I think the Hope battery packs just contain either two or four 18650 cells. You *should* be able to spur the lead to power a rear light.

Edit: Just gone back to the drawing board, well my work's note book, and done a couple of circuit diagrams. In terms of block devices it's just the simplest battery->switch->lamp circuit that you can draw. To attach the rear light it becomes basically two of these sharing the battery. The polarity of the LED might be a concern but there's only two options!

Registering interest here - I've just replaced my old Hope Vision 4 battery with a new one from MtbBatteries - I'd wondered about an insert for either a rear light or for a bit of USB recharging. I'll ask the question....

Cheers Whitestone, I was thinking of using the Hope splitter cable to give to outputs,
Front and rear, was wondering if any other manufacturer uses the same size power
Plug ? If not @ pickers would the split lead power an led light with some splicing ?

It's a long time since I did any electronics stuff and it was never my strong point anyway. The LEDs in the head unit are going to be wired up in parallel so all you are effectively doing is adding another LED in parallel with that lot.

Cheers....effectively the same as adding a Hope rear led lamp then,
Need to investigate what size exposure power plugs are now.....
