Had a test fit of stuff -



Bars = 13l drybag with sleeping bag rolled into bivi bag, pillow, waterproof coat straps on too
Seatpack = tarp, drybag with camp clothes, cookset, food, alcohol, trowel, loo roll
right fork leg = spares + tube + multitool in canister, pump
left fork leg = travel tap
frame = water bottle

think I might take my 20l alpkit gourdon after all for first aid kit, camera, day food and a extra layer

Here's mine from a test ride last weekend:



5litre airlock xtra up front - sleeping stuff, clothes etc
4litre airlock under saddle - tarp, bivvi bag, waterproofs etc
Wildcat frame bag- food, tools, tarp pole and pegs
Two water bottles
No back pack

I thought I was packing light till I saw that

@ restlessnative - Depends on the weather (temp/ amount of rain), but I may yet need to add in a few more bits.

@ Dan_K - not this year, no. It worked for last autumn's four day Wales trip, so I've planned my ride that should take me past a few villages and pubs to get food en route.

Ah, I'm taking all my food as the chances of getting a meal I would eat on route are slim

did you do something similar to the alpkit feature on making your own airlock seat-bag or is it your own design?

i've been thinking of using an airlock (either mounted a way i figure out or as per that article) and seeing as your set-up looks sweet i thought i'd ask how you did it.

Airlok as a saddle bag is a great idea...very light and those loops are handy I'd expect. My Revelate Viscacha is great, but quite heavy for what it does.

It's fitted into a Wildcat Tiger, which are in the final stages of testing 8-)

Not releasing all the details yet, but it's a different take on the saddle storage solution, it'll probably come in two sizes, it weighs less than 170g and the two points of attachment are entirely unique compared to anything else on the market at the moment to eliminate the load from swaying about. More details soon.

@ Ray - My gear is similar to my list for the BB200, with the addition of a tarp, couple of bits of clothing and a few toiletries.

Ian, now I see why your packs are the size they are, there's some amazing gear out there, 8-) . With my current disposable income it would take me about three years to buy that lot, am I jealous? Oh yes! .

i'll go ahead and make a half-arsed version for now (have some straps laying around the place) but i'll be very interested to see the finished item when it becomes available.

Yes that's the frame bag, as for the saddle got long legs, frame is 22"

Plus 2 water bottles.

Tested on 70 mile overnight off road ride last weekend.
Happy with total weight and volume but weight a bit high on the bike, may discard the last 3 months planning and just have 5l drybag on the bars and 20l Gourdon rucksack for the WRT!

Maybe i'll resort to carrying a water bottle on my head?!

do you really need to take that much protein powder with you

i can't make it to the WRT (this year) but this morning i put all of my kit on the bike for a bivi-trip this weekend and so i wanted to show off my 'bicycle':



enjoy.....

The black bag on the front will dissapear but otherwise it will be the same.
I'll be using a wingnut too.

fitted bigger tyres now (29x1.6) changed bars and chainset since the M&B to.

If its not going to rain I may get away with no pack but the Met office is now showing rain Sat night :? so a re-think may be in order.

2 fork bags, bar bag, seat pack and frame bag :D
