I'm "expecting" an Exped mat soon - Pondering whether I would be better off with an Exped pillow pump or Schnozzle.
The Schnozzle looks too big a dry bag for most of the time but is the pillow comfy enough?
Any thoughts?

I bought the Shnozzle recently and yes, it's utterly massive. It's still useful in that I can cram it in my bar bag and then crush it down, but it's a lot more hassle to use than I expected it to be.

I find the schnozzle great. I use it as a 'liner' inside the dry-bag on my bars ... quick and easy to use.

Re: Schnozzle or pillow?
I don't know what the pillow pump is like but the Schnozzle (love saying that word ) is pretty big, somewhere in the 20-25 litre capacity. It's also a lighter material than Exped's dry-bags so I wouldn't use it as a primary dry-bag on the bike. Like Stuart, I use it as a dry wrapper around sleeping bag and quilt inside the heavier duty dry bag on my bars.
Just looking at Exped's promotional stuff for the pillow pump: it's about twice the weight of the Schnozzle and a bit bulkier. I suppose it depends what your preferred secondary use for the bag/pump will be. If you want a pillow then go for the pillow pump. If you want a liner bag then go for the Schnozzle. Either will help prevent moisture from your breath getting into the mat, On my first test inflation using my lungs I got a damp patch about 30cm from the valve hole so went and bought the Schnozzle.

Pillow user here. I find it comfortable enough as a pillow, and it works well to inflate the mat. It packs away quite tidily but I do like the idea of using the schozzel as a secondary dry bag. As above it depends on what secondary use suits best.

Thanks folks,
I think I'll go with the pillow pump as the secondary use is probably more worthwhile for me - Just needed to know that the pillow worked well enough.
Cheers Mac.

Re: Schnozzle or pillow?
Had a pillow pump ( http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ ... ations_tab ) - 150g. Swapped for a hard-to-get-hold-of mini pump (43g) and UL pillow ( http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ ... Gwodw4UJjw ) (44g). Yippee, saved 63g for 6/10ths of another chocolate bar! Pillow's a bit slippy on UL mat ( http://www.outdoorgb.com/p/Exped_SynMat ... 0wodJCcGcQ ) (345g), so push pillow and mat into baselayer top to stop them sloshing around. Lightweight bikepacking.... pillow?...mat?.... <holds head in hands>..... sigh, getting old...
