Not ridden it personally but it looks pretty good. I have another one somewhere which is much more Dartmoor, depends if you like to follow the rules or not if you know what I mean.

West Country MTB way. Plymouth to Minehead, Dartmoor and across Exmoor. There is an extra part that covers the Quantocks to Taunton but I don't have that.

Interesting idea. I have been wanting to do a N-S traverse for ages. Starting at Okehampton the going is great until you run out of military tracks. Then there is a sizeable gap until Fernworthy resovoir that is mostly a tussock filled squelchy nonsense...

I believe Aiden Harding's EWE route includes a crossing of Dartmoor that may yield some useful information.

Just worked out how to import Duncan''s route into viewranger on my phone. So have had a chance to take a look.

I've done that almost exact same route from south zeal to Postbridge. In fact I've just found the gpx too.

Si is right there is a lot of clod hopping from hangingstone hill. My route basically came off hangingstone and took a left to teighhead farm before heading south again and popping out at Postbridge.

It's slow going in parts but still a good route.

You could start at oakhampton and head to haningstone. If you could find a way to get from Postbridge to red lake then you've got the puffing billy track all the way into Ivybridge. That would give you an almost exact n to s crossing from Oakhampton to ivybridge, although not in a straight line!

If you wanted a circular route you can just turn right when you hit the sustrans c2c and that will take you round the western side of the moor and back to the start. I know it's an ncn route so not challenging in the slightest but it really is a great trail.

I've got most of the bits I've described in various gpxs. I've try and pull them together into something a little more coherent than my ramblings!

Just out of curiosity to see what would happen I created a route from the car park at Belston SX 619 937 to the end of the Two Moors way at Ivybridge SX 648 565 as a straight line.
Then if you transpose onto OS 1:25 or National Park Footpath the line runs not too far from paths and footpaths with a bit of HAB and river crossing sort of in the spirit of BB.
I might give this a go if it ever stops raining.
Doesn't come under the heading of 'nice' though.
