(i.e. Shimano or SP)
Repeated pushing on and off tends to weaken the strands that go into/round the connector in my experience and even being 'precise' and leaving some outer running through the hole eventually they still snap.
Has anyone got a genius solution to make them stronger/less prone to this?

Re: Two part plastic dynamo connectors.
I was thinking of soldering wires onto the hub contact, covering them in silicon to prevent corrosion and then using some suitable connector to enable the wheel to be removed.

Essentially creating the connectors on a Schmidt dynamo.htrider wrote:I was thinking of soldering wires onto the hub contact, covering them in silicon to prevent corrosion and then using some suitable connector to enable the wheel to be removed.

I've always soldered the strands then placed into plug and bent round, solder is relatively soft and haven't had any problems with two SP hubs in use, even when hub rotated in forks.
You could solder on short stub wires to a waterproof 2 pin connector, loads on eBay prewired.

There used to be something called a PIDG Faston which is a crimp that grips the wire insulation and cold welds to the wire strands.
Ought to be able to get a boot to go over the whole thing maybe colour coded.
Trouble is you need a special crimping tool and have to buy loads of crimps.
Try an auto electricians and maybe even Halfords or someone who installs car stereos.
