TCR 2016

Post by voodoo_simon »

Just had an email to say the transcontinental opens up this weekend from Saturday 8pm until 7th November.

Not based on first come, first served.

My email seems to lack the actual start date though.... (normally August, so the wrong time of year for me - any excuse  )

Anyone thinking of entering?

Start date was announced last Friday. From memory some point in July.

Early enough to disuade me from entering as it'd mean making other plans too short.

Checkpoints look interesting though. When you're cycling a continent in under 2 weeks you always want more mountains!

The Puy De Dome looks an interesting control. It was a classic stage (and occasional TT iirc) stage back in the day and I looked at riding it last year. However they have built a tourist train line up there and I understood bikes were banned. Mike may have arranged something. One of my fellow controllers on Ventoux, Sebastien, last year works at the bottom of the climb.
