Snow by the end of the month?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Have I been misinformed or has anyone else been told this* too?

*obviously this may not be the case everywhere.

No, I'm told that's the forecast as opposed to wild media speculation ... worst winter in 100 years type of bollocks.

Overheard something similar but laughed it off as I'll be in Florida and it's currently 30c there...

Metoffice UK forecast doesn't say anything of any use...
UK Outlook for Monday 19 Oct 2015 to Wednesday 28 Oct 2015:
High pressure looks likely to remain close to or just west of the UK with generally settled weather continuing at first. Most places will be dry with variable, but often large amounts of cloud and some sunny or clear spells. Southeastern areas may see some sporadic rain at times at the start of the period, with a chilly northeasterly breeze, with the brightest conditions likely in the north. Temperatures are likely to vary but will probably be largely below average with frosty mornings at times and also some overnight mist or fog. Northwestern areas are likely to become more unsettled through the period, with spells of rain and strong winds. These conditions may spread south later in the period bringing a return to temperatures closer to the seasonal average.

UK Outlook for Thursday 29 Oct 2015 to Thursday 12 Nov 2015:
The weather for the end of October and into early November looks very uncertain at this stage with a number of possibilities across the UK at this time. The most probable trend, however, is for the northwest of the UK to see the bulk of any wet and windy weather, with the southeast drier and more settled, although here there are still likely to be occasional showers or spells of rain. There is always a possibility of a generally drier spell becoming re-established during November. Temperatures look likely to be around the seasonal average, with milder spells interspersed by colder spells.

On the BBC this morning they ran a piece on the earliest arrival of migrating Swans from Siberia. Previous early arrivals have coincided with cold winters and have been used by farmers for centurys as inicators of bad weather but I think at moment the talk of a cold winter are due too the el nino effect as all the really bad winters in the past have occured during el nino years and which added to the fact that the North Atlantic waters are at record low temps which is being used to explain the recent cool summers all the indicators are pointing to a cold winter which probably means one thing... it will be a mild one.

I'm 'working' outside all winter...

Is this why I've seen 3 fat bikes in the last 2 days?
