Another dull windshield - sorry.

Yes, another windshield but this one did take a bit of thinking about. The problem was caused by the choice of pot - 125mm in diameter but only 55mm high, so trying to get something that would actually work, while still fitting inside the pot was a little tricky.

The solution was to make it in joinable pieces. The bottom section is 'hinged' and the diameter can be adjusted to allow for conditions. The tapered (although the pics don't really show it) top piece then 'clips' on and will conform to whatever diameter the bottom section is set to. Once `dismantled' it all rolls up and fits inside the pot.

Like I say, dull but someone might get some ideas.

Clever! A bit like the middle of a trangia without the bit that lifts the burner off the floor?

I suppose it is Ben ... although in this case it weighs about 15g

I have the same problem with pot size - never thought of slicing the WS in half :) nice one.

Hi Stuart,

What type of metal do you use, how thick is it, and where do you get it from?
I've used aluminium before, but it's not particularly strong.

I use high grade .2mm (and every so often .3mm). It's not the easiest stuff to find but if you want some I can sort you out ... I keep a stock

Thanks for the offer, Stuart, if I ever get round to redesigning a windshield, I'll take you up on that.
