Helmet light bracket and light - Super cheap / Bodge

Post by Eka567k »

I found a cheap cree light on eBay for £8. I thought it would be good for general use and kicking about but it really quite bright. So the idea came into my head to strap it too my head, well helmet. I have had a cheap helmet light before and found them pretty useless in terms of output and also they tended to be heavy and unbalanced on the helmet. This torch is relatively light weight and not as expensive as the Fennix or exposure equivalent. I couldn't find a suitable bracket anywhere so I made one. I firstly used the 3D printer at work but unfortunately it broke down (pretty standard for our one) so for a quick bodge up I bought some Polymorph and molded it to the contours on my helmet and squidged my light and some washers into it and TA-DAR! To my surprise the gooey white stuff dried hard and stuck to my helmet and the washers where enough to zip tie the light on. Its pretty light but also well balance. But I think its not coming off in a hurry. Total cost = £16
