looking for a new winter kip bag.
found a long 220cm snugpak 4 season bag. i have a snugpak softie, which has served me well for years, but now a winter bag.
the winter one weighs 1950g. is that heavy for such a long bag. pack size is 26cm by 24cm
1950g heavy for a winter bag?

I suspect it's all down (no pun intended) to how low a temperature you want to go. PHD have bags that heavy going well below -20C. My preferred vendor (zpacks) goes to -12C but is < 1000g, so nearly half that weight.
How much clothing you're prepared to wear inside the bag/shelter can also help. A 1Kg bag + 500 grams of thermal underwear could potentially save you nearly half a kilo. Would a -12C bag + thermal gear sort you? Do you need something that drops much further down the mercury? Presuming you're already lugging a down jacket around, you can add that into the equation as well.

A 'Softie' works well in a B&B
(no need for a 2kg arctic bag)

A 'Softie' works well in a B&B
but I might not be able to get in one...so better safe than sorry.
