Look What We Found ready meals

Post by touch »

Hi guys,
Just been down to aldi and they have LWWF ready meals for £1.69
Options are either Beef Chilli con carne or beef+basil meatballs. All of them are use by Jan 2013

Never had them before, but i got myself a couple to try.
Does anyone know if they can be boiled in the bag, or if i need to tip it into a pot to heat it?

ps. I know this is my first post, but i dont work for them or anything, honest :D

Can't see why they couldn't be boiled in the bag, but they have a label/glue on the outside which might mean the water is not much good for a brew.

They boil in the bag just fine, in fact they changed the bags a few years back and they are even better than the original bags. Only issue I've had with them was the pork balls, to heat through fully took too long

The problem I had was how flippin tiny they are!

I'm no heavyweight, (6', 30" waist) but there wasn't enough in one to constitute a meal for me. Even bulked out with couscous I was left wanting more.

Tasty mind.

They are cheaper than I thought. Their website has many other flavours for not much more.

The main problem with them, for things like bikepacking, is that they dont 'pack' many cals.

Just putting that out there.

Not enough in them, the first time we used them we had one each and were hungry afterwards. Used them again for mach and back when we had two each. Not exactly the lightest meal to carry but tasty and went well with a bottle of red though.

For comparison I am a 5'6" and female and one packet really wasn't enough hunger or calorie wise, especially after a days riding

I have used them and very nice they are to. Agree with others about not enough calories but you can eat two. I use cous cous with as well. Heat them up in pan rather than the bag though.

It's taken me this long to realise there isn't an "r" in your username  ;)

Not like you Ian, your usual attention to detail lacking there a little ;)
May the bridges you burn light your way
