Hello, does anybody have a gpx file or link to a strava page etc that would show me last years event. I know the course/destination is different but I am juat trying to get an idea of the local terrain to help with my planning.

Many thanks in advance

Duncan

Everyone will have a different route. The route in that sense really isn't important.

What part of the country do you ride normally?

The amount of climbing the area has is generally the thing that surprises people the most ... there's very little flat, it's either up or down. I'd also suggest avoiding anything that the map only shows as a bridleway, if the map also shows an underlying track then chances are you'll be fine.

As Neil says, looking a someones route from a previous year won't really help. Looking at an OS Explorer 215* will give you a much better idea of what you might encounter.

*Don't go thinking grid references will be limited to a single map though

Any chance that when you release the grid references that you will include a list of the maps they are on?

Thanks from someone who is already nervous about what I have let myself in for.

I'd got a bit confused by the stories of the Spar shop grid references from the WRT to thinking the Winter Event would be a list of Fords to visit. Now that I realise it is a there and back is there any indication of what sort of distance to expect? (I appreciate there will be a wide range depending on the route you choose).

Always do Dave.

The Winter event format changes each year, although you still get a list of GR to 'help' you devise your route regardless.
Mach' n back - single destination
Elan back - single destination
There 'n back - multiple destinations
Ford Fiesta - ? I've not actually said anything yet.

I've already got the local is maps but was after an idea of an actual route though. I live in the South Coast so I normally ride some of the sdw each week and the other local hills in between, when I am not on a road bike.

Hopefully my fitness levels are ok, what is a typical distance?

Cheers

I'm not trying to be vague but every year it ranges from 25 miles to 100+.

The routes up to you.

2k or 200k no one will either care or be bothered, its more about an excuse to get out there
