Haha so I thought I'd try and make a meths burner for tomorrow last minute. Cut down an old aluminium bottle threw it together drilled some holes. It burns but for some reason when burning the meths comes out the holes on the side? They maybe to low

Meths coming out when the pot is on?

Sounds like pressure building up, have you put the vent grooves in along the edge?

The majority of meths stoves don't have an upper vent. However, just adding an upper vent might not work, as any vent needs to work hand in hand with the jetting configuration ... nothing in the stove happens in isolation, it's a balancing act between jetting, pressure, volume and venting.

Overfilling it for the size or for the jet height :-bd

Fair enough but worth a try if its built and not working no? Not as much as checking you haven't overfilled it but he already covered that in the OP so was suggesting another possible reason :-)

ALSO you have only quoted half my text the other half is kind of relevant to the bit you quoted.

Grrrr

Thats what the winky was for.

But if you want to argue about it.... :-bd

Anyway the reason I brought it up was it happened to me.... In the kitchen... I had been sensible and tested it on the gas hob unfortunately there wasnt enough flat space to use the snuff pot i had on standby so i couldnt put it out then i knocked it over the hob base had a lip but a six burner base provides quite an impressive wall of flame!
