I'll be doing it. The low wind looks welcome, but rain moving in overnight Saturday. Looks like a cool start too - spent longer thinking about clothing than my sleeping gear.

Are you planning sleeping?

I'm still swithering but I think I will go fully loaded as a test run for the HT550

Yip.. correct clothing will be the tricky choice..its going to be chilly

Couple good local forecasts

Keeping options open for sleep. Will be equipped to do so, but where and for how long will probably depend on how the going is. Looking at the dozen or so of us doing it, I suspect that the opening pace will be quite quick.

Good luck. I'm incredibly jealous, was meant to have ridden it last week with a friend but my body is totally goosed.
I look forward to the write up.

Thanks :)
The write up may well make interesting reading, for reasons that will become apparent next week...

Thanks. Judging from the emails this morning, you're not alone...

Not sure how many will be there now.

Is there a general Spot tracker page the loop or is it just individual trackers?

Looks like Ian is heading for home early (or he has simply forgotten to turn right at the Geldie!)

I was just about to post the same. Heading back down Glen Tilt
If he has missed the turn, he's gone quite a distance before realising.

I'm out. Rear hub body split on the inner loop leaving me with limited drive.
There's a pic on twitter:

Disappointed would be an understatement...

Rode 50km with a very wobbly wheel. Quite a bit of pushing on the ups as the ratchet would slip inside the hub shell under load.

Gutted for you. Is that pretty much a brand new hub?

Good to meet with you Ian and all the others that I met...gutted for you Ian...that hub just went "crack" The puffin was riding the rough superbly before the hub went.

Well...I got to Feshie Bothy stopped for 10 mins and then carried on in the rain and dark to Aviemore...got there about 11pm

My legs were feeling good buy my head was fighting demons the whole way...

For me this ride was purely HT550 training and I wasn't enjoying it so I just kept on going and cycled home

Anyhow cycled 200km straight through from the start and got home at back of 1am.

If anything it has 100% confirmed that I will be at Tyndrum in 3 weeks...see you all there

About 6 months old. Defect in materials as far as I can see. I'm expecting it to be covered under warranty at an rate.

Good to meet you too Keith. You were riding exceptionally well, shame the demons got the better of you - I'd have tipped you to go onto the finish with a very respectable time.
