This is the video from my trip the other week. Not really 100% happy with it tbh. Been a while since I had used the GoPro and didn't get the best from it. Also I prefer to tell a bit more of a visual story and the footage that would have done that didn't really come out because of low light. Anyway here's what I managed to do with what I got.

I got a good track lined up for the WC2C video. That might be long enough for 2 tracks though!

Have you done anything clever with the exposure/hue/saturation in that film?
I've not yet really had a play with the settings in iMovie, but am I right in thinking you use FCP?

what editing programs are people using i may have to get me a gopro.

Yes I'm using Final Cut Pro. I used Magic Bullet Looks for the colour treatment. Did a bleached look at the start and then a brighter more saturated look at the end. Faded between the two on the water filter bit to lead into the sunny shots when the music picked up.

Did some stuff with soft edges as well. It's one thing with the GoPro having infinite depth of field everything is pretty much always in focus which can tend to really flatten the shots. Great for action stuff like the chest and clamped to the bike, but not so good for off the bike shots.

I enjoyed that, recognised some tracks and pushy bits! Just wish I had the patience for something like that though.

In terms of getting footage don't you find stopping, running up the trail, setting up the camera, riding past the camera, running back for the camera etc disrupts the ride? I've done it in the past (I have a GoPro that I hardly use) and while its ok on solo rides I can't imagine getting away with it on a group ride, hence why I don't shoot much video.

Yes and no. I think that some of the er... skill? in getting them done without it being a faff is to carefully choose how/where you shoot stuff. Sure you'll need to do a few that will break the flow if you hope to get something good but probably less than you might think looking at this video for example. Other than that if you are into the whole filming making thing then it's not a faff cause you are into what you are doing. I don't make a video every ride or trip though and I ride a fair amount so...

I ride on my own mostly anyway so it's not normally a problem but I think a lot depends on who you ride with. If I was riding with most of my mates then it wouldn't be a problem as they are all slow as f**k. Which doesn't bode well for me making a good video with Ian when we do the WC2C.

The reason I wasn't so happy with it was that it wasn't what I had in my head to make before hand or while I was filming. There was a bunch of stuff I couldn't use which was frustrating.
