MYOG Alpha poncho tent

Post by 5-2-9'er »

Hi peeps,

Just thought I would share my little creation with you. I have used a combo of a dutch army poncho, some old tent poles and a US army ground sheet to create a shelter that weighs less than a kg but is lovely to kip under in nasty weather.

Here is a link to my youtube vid of said shelter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBdCgw-Pqvk

Be interested to hear what you think!

It is dual use as my rain gear and my tent! Packs down to bugger all, and actually fits into my frame bag!

Interesting. A pole for each diagonal? And what's the condensation like when it's fully dropped in wet weather?

Like it, but I've tried biking with a poncho
It was windy and it was like cycling towing a parachute, never again
Caused so much drag I took it off, preferred to get wet instead
