Forgot how good that little 8g stove is. Perfect to stash in the rucksack for "just in case" brews. Like today, sat on top of a pill box on the North Downs Way...

Thanks Stu,

Just ordered my meth stove along with some pole-a-bear poles for the silshelter (thanks again for the tarp review by the way, keep em coming).

Merry Christmas,

Lewis

Ordered mine!

Isn't there about 25 different outdoor shops in Aviemore? At least one is a 'Munros' and the Aberfeldy branch has meths.. :)

No Munros in Aviemore (but a few just outside :-) )

I see there is no 'boom tish' smiley here so have :ugeek:

The outdoorsy shop at the Mountain Cafe does trangias, so I'm sure it will have some! Or Nevisport, or Bothy Bikes!

Btw if you're exploring Aviemore, is there really a night club underneath the police station?

"The Vault"? It's not underneath the Police Station. Rather confusingly, it's underneath Subway

I got mine too. Looks great.
I'll try it locally before venturing further afield.
FWIW, the outdoors shop beneath the Mountain Cafe in Aviemore sells meths

Got mine today, was thrown off by the 'retired greyhounds' sticker on the outside - I assume they are involved in the manufacturing process somehow...

Just been informed I can't play with it 'til christmas day. :x

So, greyhounds and whippets, do they have personalities like other dogs? They always look so glum to me.

They do. They are funny looking things though.

We always get rescue dogs here (currently have a very old collie/german shepherd cross, she is huge, but a big softy). Most greyhounds are nice, but some are a bit mental, my friend has a ex-racing greyhound and he has to wear a muzzle when he's out as he's too aggressive to other dogs.

Ours are lurchers ... Roo is Greyhound / Deerhound and Dennis is Greyhound / Saluki. I've never met a nasty lurcher, although if you're small and fluffy you might not see things the same way.

You're right about looking glum ... although it's usually just how they look rather than how they're feeling ;)

Yes Ray ... massive personalities. They all tend to share certain traits (idle, opportunist thiefs, loyal, loving) but their characters can be very different.

I would love another dog but Sue's highly allergic. My last dog was a Doberman/Great Dane cross from a rescue shelter, she was gorgeous and soft as anything. She took a lot of work to sort out though as she had suffered some serious abuse, just no understanding some people.

Tell me about it. Our Martha is was a stray in Ayrshire, and when we got her she would occasionally roll on her back in a horrible submissive thing, but snarling and showing all her teeth - think previous owner might have kicked her about the place :x . Thankfully she doesn't do that now!

There's a couple of young colle/lurchers I see tied up outside the local co-op sometimes - amazing looking things, but both have muzzles on and snarl at everyone that goes past...

Oh well let me cheer this up by trying to post a gif...

My first dog of my own was an ex race greyhound, very sweet, quite lazy generally and not too bright, she did manage to steal half a tier of a wedding cake once  She was fine with other dogs but not to be trusted with small animals.

My current rescue dog, z650, is a lab/hound cross thing, bit of a hooligan, used to come mountain biking a lot but I have stopped now as he is getting older I think it's too hard on him. Best dog I've ever had, rescue dogs are excellent.
