12/24hour, 100milers, that sort of thing in 2014

Post by composite »

So next year I really want to jump into a "full season" of endurance races and I'm trying to put together my calender. There are few in my list which aren't exactly this but I'm doing them anyway. :P

Events with confirmed 2014 dates, currently I have:

Sat Jan 11, There 'n' Back
Sun Feb 23, Cannock Chase Winter Classic
Sat Apr 5, Bear Bones Two Ton 'O Gravel
May - Highland Trail race or WRT - Not sure which I want to do yet, but I doubt it will be both.
Sat Jun 21, Mountain Mayhem
Sat Jul 26, Manx 100
Sat Aug 23, 12:12 TORQ in your SLEEP
Sat Oct 11, BB200

Ideas anyone for other stuff I could go in for?

Bontrager 24/12

Better venue & atmosphere than both of the last two Mountain Mayhems.

I did this event once back in 2010, I loved it (even podiummed :D ,although did have to get the carbon frame repaired... ).

Shred Hell of the West. The 2014 date has now been released. Not quite a 100 miles and, hopefully, won't take 12 or 24 hours but it should give your gravel racer/CX bike an autumnal shakedown.....

10 Under the Ben can be quite good and the Glentress Seven is pretty tough.
BTW there's a bit of a differnce between the Highland Trail and the WRT ;)

Clashes with the Manx100 unfortunately.

That looks pretty good thanks, although I would be doing it on a mountain bike. :)
Only thing is that if dusk till dawn is on next year I think it might be that weekend. Will add it into the calender though.

10 Under the Ben clashes with mountain mayhem.
I'm thinking that the Highland trail race might be a step too far for me next year...

Unfortunately there does seem to be a lot of clashing events in 2014.

Been thinking that I might throw in some ITT attempts. Not going to be breaking any records, but there are a number of those long distance routes that I have wanted to do for a while and not got round to.

Stu is thinking of changing it to the early May bank holiday so he can have a crack at the HRT.

As people have said theres a bit of a difference between the WRT and HRT ;)

Don't you read the Bear Bones News emails?

On April 5th the Wildcat 100 and the Two Ton 'O Gravel will be taking place. One's 100 miles and as I'm sure you've realised the other's 200 miles. There's nothing much else to know at the moment but it'll be here once there is.

Any one know anything about:
Insomnia - http://www.bedgeburyinsomnia.co.uk
Erlestoke Twelve - http://www.erlestoketwelve.com

Looks like Sleepless in the saddle will be making a return in 2014.
