FlickR - uploading pictures

Post by ericrobo »

Advice needed please - I want to post a write up of my recent Cairngorms trip, with a lot of photos. Stuart tells me that the width should be restricted to about 640 pixels. I have re-sized all the photos, and put them on Flickr.

To get them in I clicked the Img tab, and posted the link within Image
but it does not bring in the picture (at least not in Preview)

Anybody know why ?

In flickr theres an icon of an arrow coming out of a box. Click that and grab the HTML/BBCode

Which you'll get:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ericrobo/10140471815/" title="011 by ericrobo, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7289/1014 ... 4f8600.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="011"></a>
Out of that you need this bit:
Put Image around that and......

Image

There may be less complicated ways of doing it but it works for me.

:geek: Most cameras have a tendancy to overexpose which washes the colours. If you knock the contrast up a bit you'll be able to bring more of the colours out

Thanks for that Chew. I also have struggled to perform this since Flickr changed a few months ago.

The other option is to go into Lightbox mode (click the diagonal arrows bottom right). That will give a bigger image on screen. Right click and choose what size you'd like to see it at (saves re-sizing you see) then do a right click on the resulting image for the URL that includes the .jpg extension and put that between the IMG tags

FWIW, I use Blogger for my blog and it re-sizes when I add photos anyway - plus I don't have to play around with HTML tags

Just like that, but if you select the toggle at the bottom that says "BBCode", then you can straight copy and paste that code,

i.e.

Hi Scotroutes, Blogger sounded easier so I'm in the midst of trying it... but it uses Google (I already have a few photos on Google) and it isn't half cumbersome and non-intuitive... (that's what I find anyway...)
And in Flickr... (it may use Google...) I have just spent 10 minutes trying to add a photo to a set (or album) and it won't do it !!

I found Blogger to be a dawdle. Just select a nice template, modify it a bit (putting your stuff where you want it) and start posting. You don't even need to use Flickr as you can upload straight into your post (and it saves the images in a Picasa Web Album/Google Photos Album for you).
