Fork Mounted Bottles...

Just wondering what might be good options for mounting water bottles to forks if you don't have mount points? Would only be using rarely (I'm thinking of doing Badlands again at some point, and having a lot of water was pretty important).

These seem like they might be the most secure option I've seen so far.

Would definitely have to be something I could put on / take off without damage as they would likely only stay there for a week or so.

There's loads of bottle mount options now, although I'm sure they vary in strength

Tailfin is the worlds hottest vindaloo. Amazed they have ever sold any at that price
For suspension fork i drilled a hole in a jubilee clip and tapped it and then used thick rubber underneath
All 6 for under a fiver

I've got the Tailfin ones. If I recall correctly £25 for two pairs off Fleabay. They are nicely made and well-considered, with spacers to adapt to various diameter fork legs, and multiple mountings points too, but to to be honest, a roll of insulation tape round the bottle cage itself would have achieved the same result.

Question re this... how much space should I ensure is between the fork mount / clamp and the spokes? They seem fairly close in the position I'd choose ideally, and I know spokes flex a bit...

I've a big bottle cage that will hold a 1.5 litre bottle I used on the TD. It was tiestrapped or jubilee clipped to the fork leg - wasn't expensive and I actually have 2 that I was looking at the other day thinking I should sell them.
I used a disposable bottle in them - that way I didn't care too much if I lost one, and for lots of the days I either had an empty bottle in the cage or no bottle at all.
Shout if you want a pic - I only actually used one, so the other is unused.
