Badger Divide - Parking Glasgow?

Post by Richpips »

I'm driving up to Glasgow to ride the Badger Divide over 4 days.

Any ideas what the score is with parking near the start?

Glasgow is the finish, not the start

Kelvingrove is the west end, I don’t think there is any free parking round there, it’s pretty much all metered pay and display or resident/permit controlled

there used to be a campsite in milngavie just north of glasgow , they let you leave your car there while people do the westhighland way ,
i do think a fee is involved but its safer than dumping it on a street

You used to be able to park for free in Milngavie train station car park, thats where we left the car when we did the WHW

I’ve used the JustPark app/site when needing to leave the van for a few days. Basically parking on someone’s driveway. Usually somewhere between a fiver and ten quid per day depending on the poshness of the area

I think it closed at least 7 years ago when I walked the WHW

My son has just left Addison Road.

For some bizarre reason all the parking is free and unmeteted.

You can park in the West End at North Kelvinside. It's the area around Kelvinside Academy - Kirklee Road/ Bellshaugh Road, plenty of parking and no payment/restrictions. It's also close to the finish at Kelvingrove museum.
Alternatively, you can park in Milngavie, on Main Street, B8030 opposite the police station there is parking. Or i stay 500metres away from the Police Station and you can park outside my house. PM me for my address if you want to do that.

An update.

There were no replies on this thread when I set off, so with street view I picked somewhere "suitable" 3 miles out of town in Balornock near some shops, but not in front of someone's house.

I'll find out tomorrow if my car is still there. 😂
