Cleaning tyre sealant off a frame

Post by Boab »

The arse end of my gravel bike is covered in dried on tyre sealant. It doesn't seem to want to come off with the application of detergent and elbow grease. Anyone got any tips on how to clean it off...?
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

It seems like there's different formulations, normal latex solution just peels off but I found one (Joe's?) was really hard to remove at first. Had to use GT85 to get under it. That or meths should do it.

Usually I get mine (OKO HighFibre, probably same as Milk It stuff) off the carbon frames quite easily with isopropyl alcohol and/or WD40 and a cloth.

I have some sealant spots on my bead blasted titanium fatbike frame I can't get off with above solutions and a cloth. Didn't clean it when it happened and possibly the extremely high UV rays of the Puna de Atacama have hardened it.
If I was bothered more I'd try with a rough sponge, but this may not be recommended for a paint job on a carbon frame.
