Replacing wheel bearings

My front wheel has gone a bit grindy so I've been having a look tonight, any tips on how I get the bearings out?
I've got access to a bearing press and puller but what's the deal with the sleeve that's protruding, how does that come out so I can use the puller on the inner race, does it need a tap from one side?

Hope the pics work ...

Yup. Just a light tap AFAIR. Knock it towards the disc side...

This should help. Excellent mechanic/teacher is this lad.

Main thing is to get some quality replacement bearing Rich. Fag orNTN/SKF etc. Beware of copies. Enduro bearings are ***t, IMO.

Hammer use a rubber one or wood to protect the soft alloy

IME they often take a fair amount of whacking to get out ( and take the bearing with them)
