In. Really enjoyed it last year and nice to do a 300 which isn't a total mission

I'll probably sign up at after pay day. Will be interesting to see how the route evolves, looks like the bastard climb up from Church Houses is gone, and I'm not complaining...

I had a chat with Stuart a couple of months ago. He said that everyone was so fast last year he was thinking of making things a little more "interesting" to slow people down a bit

There was talk of a 300 mile option

Bloody hell, one of the things I like about that route last year was that it wasn't a complete mission (a la BB300 :(( ) I see he has missed the railway line of headwind doom out and added the inclined plain. I think he was also going to try and remove some of the road riding in the forest.

Yeah, it was nice to get round without feeling like you'd half killed yourself... 😂 The bit through Dalby was pretty boring, but I wouldn't necessarily want to be whanging down a red or black run either.

It's longer than feared

He's a naughty boy.
For those on FB https://www.facebook.com/share/p/ASRKat84arWhpB9C/

Start Skipton, reverse YD300 to Pately Bridge, nip across to Thirsk and ride NYM300. Aim to finish Sunday 7th. Strangely alluring.

Chuffin' hell  He's gone loopy! Not sure how many are going to be signing up for that. A hard ask to complete inside two days.

If it started and ended in one place, I'd be stupid enough to sign up. I think a solid three days effort might just be enough, but maybe more...

He's not thinking two days, just finishing with NYM300 finishers. I'm considering parking Thirsk, Thursday morning train to Skipton ( a few to get there before 9am) and try for 3 nights.
A few things have to align though.
If anyone else were considering it and willing to drive Thirsk to Skipton, I'll pass Skipton on the way home and could drop you at your vehicle.

Hey all. It's Stuart here from RedSky Bikes and the North York Moors 300.
Hope you are all well.
As you know the date for this years 300 is the 6th July. Links are available in the comments above this post.
Yep, ive made a few changes to the route. Ive removed an unnecessary descent and climb off the Rutland Ring and I will also be removing the road section through Dalby Forest and find some packed bike friendly off road routes.

There won't be a 300 mile route this year but there will be one for 2025. This will be a new route and not just extensions to the 300km route.
I won't name any names but someone did mention linking the Yorkshire Dales 3oo and the North York Moors 300 together. This created a few problems. Logistics for the riders as well as linking the routes as not to add unnecessary milage to an already epic ride SO I have made the YD300 route run clockwise with a few amendments. You head around the route clockwise as far north as Tan Hill. You then follow the route as far as Pateley Bridge. You would then head back to Skipton BUT this is where I lead you towards Thirsk and the entirety of the NYM300 route.
The plan is for you to arrange your own start time but to plan to finish at RedSky Bikes on the Sunday. When you start in Skipton I ask you to take a selfie with the clock tower at the castle in the back ground. Post it to the NYM300 socials where we can all see your Start time date etc.
Here is a link to the Ride With GPS route [url]https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45752621/url] This will be amended so it's not the finalised route. I do believe there is one chap who is giving it a go. Grab a NYM300 ticket on its eventbrite site. Buy your spot on the NYM300 and I'll throw in the extra 300+ kilometres for free.
If you want anymore info then get in contact.
Cheers all.

It looks like a fantastic route and event.

I've only ridden in the area once, is the 300km route something people aim to do in one go? (Like BB200) or it requires a good 2 days?

On paper it looks ideal for a gravel bike.

Last years NYM300 was easier going than the BB rides and much easier than YD300. If riding a those events in one go is your idea of fun, then you shouldn't have an issue.

As for a gravel bike? It's more about the rider. I'd be miserable on one for that amount of time but you might enjoy it

Most of it is ideally suited to a gravel bike, but there are some long sections that will be uncomfortable. If you're happy to ride around the Peak on the gravel bike, you'll be fine. I'll be on a hardtail I think, after rigid last year.

Oh yeah, forgot about that section down the washed out Boltby Bash enduro trail. I think I swore.

My brain was about half a mile behind me so I was right into the really rough (aka gnarly) bit before I realised I needed to actually think about where I was going, rather than staying awake...
