DD Superlight solo tarp - damaged but free! (Claimed)

Post by fatbikephil »

I hope someone can make use of this - last weekend I managed to tear two of the mid panel tie out points on my much beloved DD tarp. See pics below. One has ripped almost completely away and left a hole, the other has just started to pull. The only way to repair would be with a sewing machine (or a lot of patience with a needle and thread) neither of which I have. If you can do this, all it will need is a couple of waterproof patches or seam sealer to make it waterproof and a good tarp - https://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/tarp ... WE116.html

The rest of the tarp is in good condition. So it's free to a good home either to repair or use as a source of material for something else. Note it won't come with the pegs and bag as I'm still using these.

Phil, you could glue reinforcing patches onto it. Just need to determine if it's silnylon or silpoly. It's what I've done when I've made tarps but the tension is more across the material than at right angles to it though I have done ridgeline tie-outs that have held. Glue the patch (I used Sil-net on silpoly tarps), clean any excess, weight down and leave overnight.

Happy to patch it up for you Phil. Shouldn't be a big job and I've probably got everything needed.
