All new Flextail Zero air pump

Saw it on my social feed, and didn't like my current pump as I felt that the nozzle connection is a bit flimsy.

Mini photo review for anyone interested

Image
Nicely boxed with plenty of nozzle options, a removable rechargeable battery, robust feel, quieter than my original pump a much better nozzle to fit the air bed, but with no rubber O rings on the battery compartment so not safe near water if a long life is required

Out of focus, but you get the idea

My original pump was 90g

Tested on my

8 to 10 seconds quicker than my original pump.

Worth the upgrade?
Maybe, if you have the pocket money to spare.

Is it worth buying if you don't have a pump to blow your mats up with?
Yes, it's always better than filling your airbed with moist lung air and less faff than a snozzle bag.

This will also roll up inside the airbed, so take up a little less space over my last one.

Any details on where is the best/cheapest place to get it without risking my investment. Seen it on Indigogo but I'm not really wanting to invest in something and losing money for the sake of it.

Could do with it though, especially since it seems smaller than a chocolate bar and I'm wanting to get a new mat and pump without lung-air.

No idea, I bought it from Flextail direct at their launch

Thanks for the heads up.
Birthday in a couple of weeks , that's one present sorted ! Ordered direct from the states I believe, free shipping ... £36 including a battery, shipped.. code FLEX10 worked.

Edit Typical ... they appear to have a Black Friday sale with 20% off ... code BF20 should work.

Ordered with code FLEX10. £36 total. BF20 wouldn't work. Probably cos it's not Dec anymore

Thanks John and Godivatrail :-bd

I'm getting one too - saves huffing and puffing!
I wonder if it will inflate a packraft?

Looks like you can do about 30 inlfations of a mat with yhe 650mah battery. But it also takes an uprated 900(ish) batt which a review (not Johns  ) stated can also be got from FLextail. So maybe you should aim at getting the bigger battery and be prepared to wait about 5 mins.

Welcome to the Flextail 1.2 club. Nice view from here

It might actually be quite useful for starting the fire we have at my conservation group (all legit  )

I've got the other one that John has (the white one).
Does my packraft no problem with lots of battery capacity left over.
Does take about 5 minutes though.

Yes if you are happy to wait.
I have the larger one for my packraftz and it blows it up on just over a minute.
This woukd take around 5 minutes I guess

Hmm - heavier and more expensive than an Exped shnozzle bag (and needs power) am I missing something obvious here?

It's easier ??
Thermarest one is hardly bulky

Mine was waiting for me on my doorstep after returning from the winter event Sunday. Get the feeling it had been there since Saturday! :-bd
Ordered it through Indiegogo kick-starter thingy. Looks good & works ok with my expeds, although doesn't appear to be sealed against moisture, so will spend most of it's travellimjg life inside a sealed plastic bag.
Like my shnozzlebag, but find it awkward when using it inside my Lunar Solo..

I dont really get how it's more expsensive and heavier than a schnozzle bag (which I don't own). According to this ultralight version https://outdoorgear.co.uk/exped-schnozz ... ght-large/ the Exped is around £45 and 90g. Apparently 1.2oz is about 40g (without battery).

Aside from not being waterproof, seems a good option over (I assume) a bulky pillow/bag.

I really like my Flextail pump. Weight difference is pretty negligible either way, lack of faff is soooooooo much better.

That’s a giant one, it’s double the size of the normal one

Mine came with the exped mat - it’s a medium and weighs 54g and it can also be used as a dry bag (I keep my down quilt in mine). Usually it only takes 3 or 4 fills from the sack, I’ve always found it a doddle to use (I use a tent though so can’t imagine it would be as straight forward in bivvy bag in the rain)

They always seem to be on sale though - rock and run have that giant one you found for £15 : https://rockrun.com/products/exped-schn ... 6250303669

It's easier especially in confined spaces than a snozzly, plus it's not likely to split and ladder like ones of mine did while out and about.

My thermarest neoair electric pump is smaller and lighter than the inflating sack. Had it many years now

It runs on 2 AAAs but they last forever. I wish it had the option of beinf USB powered so I could use a battery pack. I've thought about wiring up a plug and adaptor but CBA

When the thermarest pump dies I'll prob get this one
