Dropping son at school and then upper body pull session.

Managed an easy little spin (14km) after I'd finished all the jobs yesterday. Can't really push on the pedals with the dodgy knee, luckily i was on the ebike, but it was ok with the actual pedalling action so that a plus. And nice to actually get out, get some fresh air, and see a nice sunset.

It's all going to rats!
As vegetarians we're really struggling with meal plans at the moment... like we've got collective amnesia on what we usually eat...
And she's trying to avoid cheese which makes meals much harder still.
Been riding about 40 miles a week and on target ( slightly over target) with my 2024miles target and I'll ride much more in the summer.

I do like a beer, but try to restrict myself to 3 nights a week and only 2 or 3 bottles when I do.

Annoyed with myself this week. Screwed up my training by drinking way too heavily on a night out.

Need a couple of weeks being more strict. Want to get ahead of the game rather than playing catch up.

3/2 - 76.5kg
10/2 - 76.4kg
17/2 - 76.1kg
2/3 - 77.1kg...meh. Knew I wasn't great last week due to being away on a break. Thought I was better this week but it was my birthday yesterday, so maybe I won't be too hard on myself.

Fri 12th Jan - 86.0kg
Sat 9th Mar - 88.5kg

Not sure what gone on there. Entered a marathon and runnng more, cycling less (cos target is 63miles or nothing which on hindsight might be a bit silly!). Lots of food going in I guess or maybe the muscles are becoming more dense. Belly still looks a bit pronounced!

Put myself down for a trail marathon in Sept. The hope is that in training (very steady progressiveness but also focusin on injury prevention) the weight might well fall off :-bd

Surprised by that, expected the rolling average to stick higher due to the night out. Also, am creatine loading, which usually comes with a meaningful amount of weight gain.

Recovery week, so I didn't expect miracles. I think the weight gain aspect of the creatine loading should be over now so will be interesting to see how it goes.

Sadly stress still a major issue at the moment.

Just read Big Brother - Lionel Shriver about an obese big brother. Having an obese son I hoped for hope and got none. He'll be big his whole short life. Love him while he's here.
"As the brother, Edison, explains in the novel,
“I used to look pretty good. Then I didn’t.
That’s the point. Once I got sort of fat, one more baby-back
rib didn’t matter. See, when you look sharp, you got some¬
thing to protect—an investment to preserve, a power to keep.
But when you’re already big, there’s nothing to lose from
being bigger.” If you’re in good trim, it’s relatively easy to
decline a cupcake: you’re motivated; you have a social resource
to preserve. But for my brother, passing on a cupcake
presented itself as pure self-denial with no commensurate
reward. Once you’re hundreds of pounds overweight, eat it
or don’t eat it, what difference does it make?"

Maybe worth reframing?

I might have cared about being slim for looks when I was a kid, but I've long since accepted I'm going to look like garbage at any sort of healthy weight anyway.

I lose weight for health, longevity (I hope) and performance, every kg helps.

87.2kg this morn. Happy with that. Never guve up, giving up was my motto when trying to wuit smoking. Then the heart infection came and I was unable to breathe with anything more than half an inhalation. So I quit, thanks to God.

Then came the chest infections. Much worse than how they were when smoking or vaping, which at the time were little more than a smokers (constant) cough. Was just telling family today that since 2018 to early 2023 I had on average about 3 chest infections (IMO full on pneumonia but on the slightly easier side of things) a year. Allah tells us through his book and messenger that we must have hope as His Mercy overrules his punishment.

So I kept on trying my best to eat (albeit not little) good, lots of honey and as much exercise as I could afford. In 2022 Dec was my last pneumonia and the chest infection after lasted so long. About 3 months and in Feb of 2023 I told my wife that this looks to be my last...It just wasn't clearing over and I assumed the next step was death and meeting Allah.

Fast forward and March came of 2023. By April my chest was clear and this Dec of 2023, not only did I manage to ice (well, slush but alot of it) ride to London (used train to keep a bit safer, so ended up riding 150ish instead of the full 240). Usually after that annual ride I'd be struggling to get through the next chest infection, but this time the '2 weeks later' I was starting a 300 miler ride from Bristol to Cambridge and back.

Done that with hardly any sleep and, living to tell the tale. Don't give up giving up. Always look positive, don't lie to yourself and (at the risk of sounding annoying) remember that your Lord - the Creator of all things and the one that makes the sun/moon and universe go round with exact precision - is near. Most Merciful, Entirely Merciful...

Don't give up hope and keep seeking out the truth. Sorry for making it a tangent but some of the posts were sounding rather scarily pessimistic and borederline worrying. There's never a reason to give in/up. We got this (God Willing)!

NB. Since I did mention religion (and I try not to as I know it irritates people these days, sorry) I may as well elaborate. In Islam we're encouraged to remember that the body is on loan from God. One day it will go back and we'll be questioned about it and how we looked after it.

Hence my plan is (thankfully) get this marathon out the way and keep getting stronger. Hopefully I can shake this belly off but even if I can't I'll keep trying. Downloaded and app called Fastic today. AI managed weight loss app. It's got me fasting until tomorrow midday with just water or milk less coffee/tea until then. Looks good!

I was here in January ... glad to be back here again.
With WRT looming large, and my cycling is down... I'm currently 55 miles short of my target, mainly thanks to the unbelievably dire weather we've consistently had this year mostly this last 6 weeks as I was ahead in March.
I NEED to ride!
