Türkiye aka Turkey. Nov/Dec 2023 trip

Post by Rasta »

Just finished a month of bikepacking in Türkiye. My second time there this year. Along with my month in Morocco, this could be my busiest year. Oh! and a few weeks in France, Scotland and England.

Had a few days of rain, so I sat in the tent making 'green' bows. Got 50 yards with this on the first day. Only found tortoises nearby and I don't think the arrow would get through the shell. So went hungry. (Yes, I know, needs more tillering)

I bumped into David Bowie's cat, out there on holiday.

Plenty of lake and sea swimming. Kebabs. Very friendly locals. Loads of friendly cats. A great trip.

Kebabs
Hope these activities weren't linked
In any case, you can't hit a tortoise with an arrow

Well they're a bigger target so should be easier to hit

The first trip, one month, I flew into Bodrum Airport (not town) and followed the coast (not all) around to Dalaman Airport. Mainly wild camping in remote bays so I could practice my freediving.
This trip, one month, I flew into/out of Dalaman. Doing 3-4 days loops based out of Dalyan.

I used these loops but also combined them with the hiking trails. The hiking trails were very tough with a loaded bike, and some really nasty bushes that would tear me up.

Didn't see any turkeys but plenty of very big boar at night. Unlike other boar I've seen, they come very close to the tent and growl like bears. :???:
