24 hours notice of first outing

Post by Fen-yak »

Got 24 hours to get my kit together and stashed on the bike for the first time for a 'fully approved' overnight bikepacking trip Saturday night. :D
Still got to get a couple of bits and pieces, but that shouldn't be too difficult with a raid on the loft and some bodging. I've got a trangia stove kit, so may just take the burner and bicycle up a stand - any advice on that one?
Yet to choose the route, but there's a few options from the door...

Sorry this reply is a bit late (just go back from my overnighter) .
1cm square galvenised mesh cut to size in a circle on the burner lip or around the burner for pot support weighs 20grams max.
If you are using a mug with the burn just fold the ends over to support it

Hope this helps.

ps
here is a quick shot of my duel fuel set up not the lightest but under 200 grams
bearbones meth stove. 30ml meths roughly 7mins boil burns out a few mins later.

myog esbit gram cracker. 14gram esbit block 9 min boil time 15 min burn out.
both above are used with a myog caldera cone(windscreen)

old rice tube to store bits in.
mesh pot stand.
esbit 500ml mug with lid.

Good to see your set up MM. Never used tablets before. Bought a bargain Alu mug and lid for a fiver. Used the trangia burner and used 3 spare ALU tent pegs to suspend the mug over the burner. 100ml meths was just right for hesting water for cous cous, 2 cups coffee, 1 x ovaltine, warm muesli.

As for the trip very enjoyable - will post pics and a report in Trips and Adventures when I've kicked my son of the PC :-)

Cheers, Nick
