So, 2 weeks to go. I know we get grid refs tomorrow, but has anyone got a plan yet?

I can feel a bird hide and a cafe, just pondering bike choice and pubs at the moment, and whether I want to be solo or a small group....

Yeah, I'm following Frog, and he's following MuddyPete, and MuddyPete's following me, so that'll be interesting. Sounds a bit like Winnie The Pooh following his own footprints.

The winter boozer choice in BB Land is getting more limited every year sadly, especially if you want to get fed  . My favourite has stopped doing food, and another one has been tarted up and spoilt. One I hoped for last year also stopped food, plus another is closed in winter.

I quite liked Cafe Racer when we all ended up at the same destination. Doubtful 80 of us would fit in your bird hide though?

I need to go and dig out that Power Ranger outfit....

You need wait no longer Steve - GRs hot off the press  .

Some crackers there, right up Reg's street, really really looking forward to it now :-bd . You must have been talking to Frog about one of those, Stu, as that is his main aim of the trip already and I now know where I went wrong last time  . A wheely good choice in fact. New Year's resolution: not to stay in the Wynnstay bar until 1am again :o .

Hope the lurgi isn't getting you down too much Stu and Dee  .

I might have to change my thinking - I want to visit that place as well Reg. Going to have to get creative....

Mmmm... am conscious not to give anything away  . But that GR could get quite interesting if everyone turns up at the same time. Given the spread (or rather concentration) of them, apart from the hard cases going off to the northernmost one, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up being a long line of 80 Boners doing exactly the same route. Which could be quite fun actually  .

Check your email in box, from Dee Jones
If not there it might be in your SPAM folder

Shock horror, I might be able to get 3 GR's this time
And no I'm not going anywhere near "how could we not?"

I'd be surprised, I'm going to be doing it my way, the "haven't a clue" way

Far too much scrolling down the map to find that one

The Wynnstay opens at 7pm for food on the Friday night, see you there.
A few of us will be in our vans and cars opposite overnight and maybe having breakfast in the Wynnstay in the morning of the ride
Not sure if there are any beds in the "interesting" living quarters, but it's an option for anyone travelling a long way.

Connect 4 re match is on for the Friday night Reg? :-bd

Already in there. Am prepared to move over a bit if anyone's stuck for accommodation  - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdDypyS_5zE .

Oh aye, but remember what happened this year  . Admittedly a total fluke.

With Dee (and poorly Stuart's) email to us fresh on our minds.
"Choose to ride 20 miles or a hundred, the choice is entirely yours and there is no right or wrong way."

And with the whisky open and flowing to try and clear my own cough and cold in solidarity with our glorious leader.... I thought what would draft a route linking every one of the GR's to see its mileage....

If you are in the slightest bit interested or super human enough to try and get every GR the route I think the "easiest" is.....

142 miles long
Duration 26.23 hours
Off road
With
19,873ft of ups and downs

Enjoy..... Because I for one may only bump into you at possibly 2 or 3 of the Grid Refs, if our gang can even be bothered with ticking these boxes.

I don't suppose anyone has gone to the trouble of putting all the GRs into a mapping tool so they can be seen in one map?

Yes and butties.
It's the excitement of plotting a route past a pub and then checking on Google to find it "temporarily closed" as a crushing defeat

Marginally better than arriving at said pub and finding it temporarily closed  .

Will be heading SW to, yes, a pub with Frog and MuddyPete if anyone's stuck for ideas. No fixed route, plenty of stops for investigating places of interest, chatting to any locals barmy enough to do so etc, but not bothered about mileages, speeds, heartrates.

What's most baffling is JC hasn't asked what the weather's going to be doing yet  .

Found between Ukrainian Beauties and Prostrate Problems  in said folder. Though clicking the box to accept all mail from Stuart is possibly an even scarier prospect

The one that is in the middle of a isolated byway is an interesting one, obviously some local knowledge or the traditional "lost ways" get some mountain bikers daft enough to go anywhere to ride it

I've decided to go west into Dyfi forest, the North over Bwlch y Groes, with an undercover overnighter by Lake Vrnwy then back through Dyfnant forest on Sunday. Mainly roads and fire roads as I can see anything off road being a horrible slog. I'll be singlespeed as I haven't used it for a couple of years and just fancy an easy spin (apart from the Bwlch anyway!).
Happy if anyone wants to join - pace will be steady and mileage moderate, otherwise equally happy on my own.

It's looking dry over head this weekend.

Gonna get very wet under rubber of course.

On the radio this morning the traffic news said that the road between Welshpool and Newtown was flooded. Something to keep an eye on over the next few days.
