The tyre amnesty thread - please join!

Post by Al »

Got an embarrassing tyre collection you'd like to reduce? Too good to chuck but not worth selling?

Post your tyres up and if they are of use to anyone they can have them for postage and perhaps feeding the bear to keep this virtual roof over our heads.

I have..

2x WTB trail blazer 27.5 x 2.8 - now rehomed
Nobby nic 27.5 x 3.0 (quote a few plugs in it)
Maxxis crossmark exo 27.5 x 2.2 - now rehomed

Nobby nic 29 x 2.25 - now rehomed
Hans dampf trailstar exo 29 x 2.35
Vittoria Barzo 29 x 2.1 (unused!) - Now rehomed

Good idea, I'll have a dig around the garage to see what I have.

I'd take that Barzo off your hands if it's black/grey? If it's new then happy to pay something for it.

I have a lovely half worn Maxxis Rekon+. 2.8 x 27.5. Done me well..

Thanks for the thread Al.

I'm also gonna remove 2 x 25c x 700 from the road bike. They're Giant tyres and I like to ride steep stuff. Thw grip on the downhills is always a bit sketchy with my caliper brakes. Press too hard and they'd slip. Some slight marks/rips but must be superficial as they hold air/a tube...
They've done less than about 400 miles I'd say.

I'm building up some B+ wheels so the Reckon would be ideal if still available?

Right, time to try and reduce the pile of tyres in the shed...

First up, a single Continental Terra Trail 700c x 40mm. Was the original rear tyre that I put on my gravel bike when I first built it. It's been run tubeless and tubed and comes with a Tannus Armour insert. As you can see, it's been punctured and patched, but might be of use to someone...

Next up, a pair of Panaracer GravelKing SK 700c x 43mm. I ran these for a summer and they were fast and supple, but appeared to be made of cheese. They're extensively patched, including this bad repair to the sidewall. If you run tubes, then you'll be fine, otherwise expect to loose sealant when setting them up.

Finally, a pair of WTB Resolute 700c x 42mm. These were pretty good, if a bit sketchy when it got sloppy. Again, they're patched, and depending on the sealant you use, it'll pish out of the sidewalls.

If anyone fancies any of these, then let me know, Feed the Bear and I'll post them out.

Like all my tyres, they're extensively patched. At least one of which might benefit from a proper tubeless mushroom repair...
I'll dig them out and take some photos.

Nothing, just Feed the Bear and I'll send them.

2 x Giant Gavia tyres. Used for about 500 miles. Go up tubeless first time (as long ss it's a tight interface), well they did for me. I've just swapped back to gp5000 as the grip (when braking) is loads better for steep downhills.

Postage at cost.

I've a performance line nobby nic 3.0 that Techno Andy gave me - plenty of tread but has had lots of tyre plugs used on it.

Any use?

Let me know, depends on condition, price etc pm some photos

I'm still running one of the other tyres you sold me, unfortunately the side walls didn't cope on the rear. What's the side wall like on the chronicles?
