Contemplating a change of air mattress...

I haven't looked at air mattresses for years as we have various exped ultralight ones here.

However, we've had a few issues with the seams between sections popping open, and another has a slow leak. So I'm a bit reluctant to get another.

The one that popped the seal between the baffles was replaced by exped - but the replacement has done the same. I don't blow them up hard so I'm not sure what has happened there.

What are others using and would recommend? I should say I really don't want something that sounds like a crisp packet to sleep on which may rule a few options out.

The Nemo mats seem to have many fans. I know John has one that he seems to love.

If you're avoiding Exped then the S2S mats are worth a look, I recently switched from a Exped HL MW to a Thermarest Xlite NXT in wide which had been very comfy, the amount of.noise it makes varies depending on which shelter I'm using and the groundsheet fabric, silpoly is much noisier than silnylon ime

Thanks I will have a look at those. With regards to noise I remember the neoairs sounding like crisp packets irrespective of where they were, if that makes sense. I

My Neoair Unberlite did this as well, replaced under warranty and the new one did exactly the same second use. It also has a slow puncture I can't find. I think they have made too much of a sacrifice of durability in the pursuit of lightness.

My old neoair (now called xlite?) is still going strong. I don't notice the noise but then I'm asleep. They always sound louder to the user as your ear is right next to the mat

Friends say it's like I'm sleeping on a giant bag of crisps, but if I'm using it then I'm normally so tired I'm asleep in seconds and so have never heard it myself!

Sea to summit ultralight insulated?

I've a ln exped ul mat as well but always eng up using the sea to summit one.

I don’t hear it either. My (unintentional) solution to the crisp packet noise was to get older and deafer. My ears can’t hear the high frequencies. I can’t hear the ultrasonic cat repellers either. ‘S a shame for anyone that has to sleep nearby though.

At least with the bread crumbs you can leave a trail so we know where to find you

Then in the morning you can just chuck the whole mess in a pan - onions, garlic, slugs, the lot - and fry it up for a quick and nutritious(?) breakfast.
