Aeroe Fat Spider?

Hey all, this has been discussed before and I have read a little into them, so I am looking at picking up a Aeroe Fat Spider for my Surly Wednesday, has anyone had any long term experience or feedback with the system? I am looking at using a top bag and two smaller side bags instead of a heavier rack and pannier set up which is sub ideal for offroad riding, and easily removed for when I want to travel lighter.

A friend has the standard one (not fat)

Seems very sturdy and well put together designed.

The bags that go with them seem a bit expensive though

Yep I have one on my Bat Fastard

I'ts brilliant and very well built, you don't notice it when it's not loaded, but because you need a torque wrench to get the straps at the right tension I CBA's taking it off and putting it back on again, so it lives on the bike full time now.

When packed I use 2 x 20ltr Alpkit dry bags and the straps on the spider are perfectly spaced to fit through the dry bags strap holes

I don't have anything on the top of it as this makes a great lifting handle when manovering the bike in tight places, using this bar as a grab handle.

I don't think it's worth the faff of removing it and adding it to the bike all the time as I'd only loose parts.

I'ts maybe a tad expensive, so it's a 9/10 from me.

vaguely exciting thanks, luckily I work in the trade so cost is a non issue, I will probably use it with my stash of alpkit dry bags :)
