Replacement 'maxle' for Chinese carbon forks

Post by boxelder »

I've broken the cam on the QR bolt thru axle on some Chinese carbon forks

Now need to try to source a replacement. 15mm x 110mm, but different thread to a Rockshox....... The threaded bit is both a little narrower and has a different thread pitch - 2mm.

Because of the chunky dropouts, it also needs to be 150mm or longer. ISON do one with 2mm pitch, but only 135mm long.

They are the forks that Shand were using for a while I think. Struggling to find them now online. Anyone know where I can source an axle?

EDIT: So, the 'female' threaded insert is removable, so I can replace with 1.5mm pitch. Can only find them from China atm though.....

Would an ALPKIT one fit ? both my sonders ( rear) have a nut ( held on by a grin screw) ...not sure it would fit in your fork but the shop is relatively close to see.
I can measure the maxle if that helps ( 148 hub)

It's a thought - I'll go and see. It's for a boost fork though, so 110mm, with total length of 158ish.

Yes it's probably only going to help with the thread issue not the length issue

This is a US company, so shipping might be an issue, but might be helpful https://robertaxleproject.com

Edit - I’ve just seen that SJS cycles are a dealer for them, so if you can find the right one on the Robert Axle site you may be able to get it in the uk
